Will it run Graphene? Lineage? Calyx?

With the pure derp of Google my primary deciding factor is support for alternative OS images.

I was under the impression with Google's new policy you'd still be able to turn off the unverified installations check (albeit with a 24 hour waiting period), in the dev options. Crazy that Google is trying to take away the one thing that keeps me using it over Apple.

LOL are you me? I've only used Pixels since the 4a because the most important thing about any phone has become removing spyware and AI bullshit, and generally being under my control. And for that reason I don't buy anything else.

But GOS has very high hardware standards that a small OEM could probably never meet. The best they can do is give it an unlocked bootloader and leave it up to the community.

Otherwise the name is apt. There's very little separating modern smartphones especially the crazy high end ones. This seems like it would be "Enough" to do what people need to do.

The 4a is the last good Pixel

Do any of them even support stuff like banking apps? I haven't looked into it much personally because I always hear that you can't use critical apps like that on alternative OSes.

Both my banking apps work on graphene. There's a list of ones that work floating around.

Do you have a nonโ€“antagonistic setting, maybe? Your vibe-coders should look into that upgrade.

Unless it has an unlockable bootloader and ability for installing custom roms, it's just another useless thing for the landfill.

I get that we can't use the metric system, but I use an Android phone. I don't know how big or small an iPhone 13 Mini is.

Nice. I have no desire to carry a tablet around in my pocket. So tired of these massive phones. These things are supposed to be portable.

Just out of curiosity, how old are you and do you ever use your phone to watch a video or play games?

Not OP, but I'm in my 40s and the answer to both your questions is a resounding no. I went for a pixel 3a to a OnePlus 13 about two years ago and the thing is way too big. Even my work issues iPhone 15 is a bit too big.

The screen real estate is kind of nice, but pocket fit is abysmal.

Also not OP, and I'll decline to post my age, but I'm old enough to have used small phones, and I think my previous Sony X Compact was the right size. The Enough is very close to the same dimensions.

I do use my phone to watch video or play games on occasion, and no doubt, bigger phones are better for those things. Better still is my tablet; better than that is my laptop; better than that is a gaming PC with a 32" 4K display and a mechanical keyboard.

The phone's main job is to fit comfortably in my pocket and be easily used one-handed. Making it substantially worse at those jobs so it can be marginally better at the things other devices will always far outclass it in is a fail for me.

  • Watch a video, sure. Play games, maybe mindustry or shattered pixel dungeon but neither of those needs a big screen.

My fairphone 6 is already way too big. It doesn't even fit in literally any waterproof bike phone holder I can find.

You can pick almost any mid-range device in the 500 euro price range and that thing does 95% of what the 2kโ‚ฌ flagship does except fold in half and cost month's wage. That's Enough Phone for anyone.

I've never gone above 250โ‚ฌ and the last two phones I've had fit that description. Only real difference is my hatred towards the world when the screen breaks.

Why are all these speciality phones always the same price as a flagship? Why would I buy a worce phone fhe the same price as last years galaxy s?

They give you a USBC to 3.5 mm converter for the headphones, so unfortunately not a true 3.5 mm jack.

I just keep it plugged into the headphones, it's as if it's not even there. But I would also prefer a jack.

The idea sounds good, but it's considerably thicker than a Sony X Compact from 2016, and it doesn't have a headphone jack (the Sony did). I use the headphone jack.

It's like with laptops. Apple is obsessed with thin laptops but really I don't want to thin laptop I want to laptop I can use to beat people to death with so that it's repairable and actually contains standard issue components rather than miniaturized custom things I won't be able to source when it inevitably breaks.

If you're going to have a camera bump you might as well just flatten out the back and give yourself more battery space.

A Sony compact from 2016 didn't have to house today's hardware.

Any phone today is larger and thicker than my Samsung S4 from 2014. Any phone today would also outperform it by orders of magnitude.

This Enough phone doesn't look any thicker than many phones today.

Unfortunately a headphone jack is required by a small subset of users, just like small phones. So wanting a small phone and a headphone jack is an even smaller subset of users.

Though I think Unihertz does headphone jacks even on their Jelly phones.

Unihertz also understands that phone width is a bigger issue than thickness (they probably have some ratio they've determined works). I can't reach across my Pixel 5 one-handed.

Edit: from their own website, the Enough phone is less than 12mm thick. That's on the thicker side, but not world-ending thick.

What? How old is that peripheral that jacks in?! ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

    Hol'up. You use an โ…›-ยผ" adaptor, don't you. ๐Ÿ˜‹ ^(link^ ^for^ ^the^ ^youngins)^

What? How old is that peripheral that jacks in?!

I have used all of the following this year:

    • Circumaural headphones: new (this year)
    • IEM headphones: 2019? 2020?
    • Aux ports in various rental and relatives' cars: various
    • Professional audio console to play a file for a room full of people because I was the only one with a phone with a headphone jack: doesn't matter - it will have analog inputs whether it's brand new or 50 years old
    • Tape adapter in an old van: probably as old as the van (2002)

You use an โ…›-ยผ" adaptor, donโ€™t you.

I believe that was involved for one of the above items.

I want thicker more durable phones with longer battery life back.

Idk about everyone else but slapping a case on each and every new phone is stupid.

I got one for my wife. She used it for about two years, but it was a pain to read her messages. And if you increased the font to its largest size it looked like shit and you could only have 5 lines of text on the whole display.

It's nice, but you get tired of it. It was cool seeing the faces of people when paying with NFC.

I'm still holding on to my iphone mini 13, cuz' I really like one-handed phones. This has NFC and an SD Card slot which is my biggest needs... and the support life seems awesome. My biggest worry - the processor.
