Not standing on my palm exactly, but the plug is definitely pushing into it.

And forget about playing games in landscape orientation, the USB cable is totally in the way, while it's manageable with headphone cable.

    True.

    But!

USB port is invariably at the center of the bottom side, there's no industry standard but it's a popular convention. Which means it's inconvenient to hold a charging phone with either right or left hand.

Headphone jack is near the corner of the phone, top or bottom, it's convenient to hold with one hand - left or right depends on the manufacturer, but many opt for the jack to the left for right-handed users.

3.5 mm headphone jack is much 𝕞𝕦𝕔𝕙 𝖒𝖚𝖈𝖍 more robust than USB-C port. You can slingshot your phone by the headphone cable, and both the phone and the cable will be fine.

USB-C socket gets slightly bent and you cannot charge your phone.

It's also at the bottom of the phone, so you cannot hold it normally, while the headphone jack is at the top.

Just wait for a few months for an existing stock of prebuilt PCs to run out, and you'll see their price jump even higher.

Cheap Chinese Pi knockoffs like OrangePi are also becoming more expensive, it's because the cost of the components increases. AI companies now buying all RAM and every RAM, even ancient DDR3.

Separate box with Raspberry Pi and Kodi, and don't connect your TV to WiFi or any other network connection, just an HDMI cable.

Or buy a TV box specifically supported by LineageOS or other opensource Android TV ROM.

In theory you can try to root and replace your TV firmware, that gets messy fast because most of them do not have any custom ROMs.

Smart TV are trash of the trashiest sort. Cheapest components, painfully slow, 4 GB flash stuffed with outdated buggy Android and preinstalled adware, with 200 MB free space for anything usable, zero chance of updates, tons of security holes, and pretty much abandoned by Google.

Pico is a bit advanced for beginners, even WiFi version requires some custom code to connect to the network, and running anything complicated like a web server dumps you into hyper-optimized embedded software development.

Raspberry Pi Zero runs the same Linux as your desktop PC and comes with WiFi, you simply run Python on it and you can make a web server with all bird feeder controls you need, and you can install VPN if you're paranoid, it will handle most tasks except AI.

NanoPi Neo comes with Ethernet connector but no WiFi for pretty much the same money and very similar specs, plus faster CPU.

OrangePi Zero has both Ethernet and WiFi but a few cents more expensive.

All three have tons of manuals and sample code on the net, and most code working on Raspberry Pi will work on OrangePi or NanoPi with some minor change to load a differerent GPIO library (the interface is compatible, so your code stays the same)

So you pick the peripherals and the connectivity you need.

Sounds like you don't have the motivation. Maybe stop thinking about learning programming specifically, and change it into "what cool things I can do with technology". Set up some project with actual goals, like a motorized bird feeder with remote controls on your phone. Look up the simplest and cheapest way to do that, and programming will naturally come along, because you'll 100% won't find a working market solution and would need to create some 100-line Python script, via AI or not it does not matter, the important part is that it does what you need and you know how to fix it or add new things.

I wanted to make a snarky comment that the title is shorter in Japanese, but oh God

Because I express my creativity through shitcode, I named my development hardware appropriately.

It's actially xn--og8h8z because /etc/hostname is allowed to contain only ASCII Latin characters, numbers, and dash, but converting emojis to Punycode using command idn 🌈💩 does the job.

I can log into my Raspberry using command ssh user@🌈💩 however Bash login shell still shows untranslated Punycode hostname instead of rainbow poop symbols, so the support is not yet fully there, and avahi-resolve-address shows hex codes of UTF-8 emojis.

    I'm using Debian 13 btw.
