What do you mean by, “I’ve HAD cats”? What did you do to all those cats?

Unfortunately cats do not live as long as humans. So if you want to read this correctly, I had a cat named Sugar and do not have them anymore because they are dead.

    Hope that helps.

Hope they had a great life. You'll meet them again one day.

In Valhalla! Drinking mead with maidens and eating as much mice as you could! Forever!

That only accounts for one. What became of the rest of the cats?

Food names are cute on pets regardless of origin! I would totally name a cat "Butter" or "Paprika" or something.

Yeah seeing a pet named Sandwich or French Fry would not even cross my radar except to coo over the animal lol

I've got a cute pair of Siamese mixes named Alfredo and Toast. Toast's points are darker and Alfredo is super silky. And then there's the orange Cornish Rex named Jugemu Jugemu Go-Kō-no-Surikire Kaijari-suigyo no Suigyō-matsu Unrai-matsu Fūrai-matsu Kū-Neru Tokoro ni Sumu Tokoro Yaburakōji no Burakōji Paipo Paipo Paipo no Shūringan Shūringan no Gūrindai Gūrindai no Ponpokopii no Ponpokonā no Chōkyūmei no Chōsuke or just Paipo for short. It's a mouthful but not of food.

I’m trying to think of a food that would be a bad cat name and I can’t.

Ketchup, Balogna, Frittata, Beans, even Worcestershire. These are all acceptable.

Might even name my next cat Broth. Who could even stop me?

Just last night we started calling our cats Crabcake and Cheddar Bay Biscuit. It started as simply mishearing what one of our kids said (heard crabby cakes instead of the normal paddycakes [a further nickname from Padfoot]) and ballooned from there. So now our cats are Red Lobster representatives.

I named one Ginger but fuck that asshole. He wants to sit on my bladder at 5:00 a.m.

    I'm pretty sure it's a war crime

Had a dog named Butters. He was adopted as a senior and couldn't hear well so it didn't matter what we called him. We just kept the name he had.

I can't find his pic right now. I think I'd have to reboot into Windows to find it.

There's a Scotty-Chihuahua puppy who's a regular at the local dog park here, and named "Snack Pack". He's the most adorable li'l goober! 🥰🥹😱

  • He gets all excited whenever he sees one of his favorite people or dogs, and does this joyous, silly head roll + neck whip + with his li'l tongue to the side and grinning. He's ~2 handfulls big. My heart could explode from the cute. 🤣🥰

Used to work at an animal shelter. We had a cat named Patty have four kittens, so naturally I named them Lettuce, Pickles, Onion, and Bun. Every once in a while I'm tickled by the fact that I got away with naming a cat Lettuce

Casserole (Cass for short) is unironically a good cat name.

    Is a lasagna a casserole? 🤔

I've always thought of a casserole as a one pan dish served from the same dish it was cooked in. Lasagna absolutely fits that in my book especially if it's one of the quick lasagnas using a jar of sauce and oven ready noodles.

This person has never met white people if they don't think we already name our pets after white food too.

e: Also never met other asians if they've never met an asian cat owner who named their cat mochi.

    Diagnosis: Terminally online shut-in.

Food? You can easily get away with naming your cat after the Turkish word for cannibal.

Duckduckgo translate showing "yamyam" means "cannibal" in Turkish

One of my cats was named Wasabi by the shelter. Her name is Noodles, so I'm not sure if I helped or not.

Marshmallow, Gumdrop, Biscuit, Caramel... Any sweet thing is a pet name.

I’m not even sure it has to be sweet.

I feel like “Chicken” is a cute name for any animal. Even saying it I want to name my next dog “Chicken.”

    Sandwich. Chips. Soup. Bagel. Baguette.

I feel like any food works but maybe I’m crazy.

I wanted to give savory examples too, but I thought they'd be more contentious. Naming a dog Soup sounds more like he used to have a proper name until the soup incident. And meat-related names make me think you plan to eat the pet :(

Is that supposed to be weird? I had a gecko named Banana, my brother had a dog named Broccoli and a friend of mine has a cat named Garlick. All in our native language.

I live in Japan where tons of pets are named 'mame' which means 'bean'. Pretty sure I've heard miso as well.

I've known many a cat named after "western" (or whatever) food. Friend of mine has one named Burger right now. There's one on c/cats named Broccoli Cheddar.

    Personally I use human names.
