The one thing that's hard to understand is that we need a baseline power supply that has real "cranking power" to bring the grid online from an outage. This is because of the immense resistance in the transformers, inverters, etc.

Solar, wind, and batteries do not have much cranking power at all. We'd need a non-negligible part of an eco-friendly grid to be nuclear, hydro, biomass, and/or huge flywheels. Basically a power source that has significant resistance (literally rotational inertia in most cases) to getting drawn down from high amps to lower amps, on demand. All of those are feasible, though from an ecology perspective there are good reasons to avoid hydro.

The benefit from nuclear is that it can provide a significant chunk of stable baseline power AND that cranking power to come back from outages.

There's a great YouTube video on this from Practical Engineering.

I'm not trying to smear people for filling a gaping hole in the content posting of this community, but this is historymemes, many of the recent few days have seen many fully religious memes posted. I completely understand the line can be difficult because many historical stories are apocryphal, but the religious memes posted under a history banner makes me think twice.

    Curious what others think?

Would there be interest in NXL tournament posts? Discussions on old markers? New/interesting YouTube videos about paintball? Discussions about new product releases?

I, like many right now, am coming back to paintball after almost 2 decades of hiatus. Digging back into modern paintball and reminiscing about what paintball was 18y ago is what I want to do, but I also don't want to lambast people with unwanted content.

    Used the JWST's NIRCAM data (calibration level 3) from filters f444w-f470n, f335m, f227w, f200w, and f187n.

I tried to use the visible range filter too (f090w) but it was too artifacted even with extensive cleanup.

Processed in Siril using mostly the Veralux workflow scripts and a few scripts I made to wrangle JWST data.

I think I'm going to try the level 2 calibrated data next, it'll be more work but I'll also have more flexibility.

I'm planning a Mörk Borg game with my friends. For the uninitiated, it's a table top RPG game that describes itself as

A DOOM METAL album of a game. A spiked FLAIL to the Face. Light on RULES, Heavy Every-thing Else.

The art and setting are very German/Euro metal inspired.

I myself enjoy listening to metal periodically, but I'm a casual fan. I want to build a background playlist to help ground the players in it's art and style.

I'm thinking light/low vocal Black / Doom / Death / Prog metal. Looking for music that drives the listeners to action while avoiding taking over center stage.

So far I have grabbed some Igorr, some DOOM 2016 Soundtrack, some Rigor Mortis, Inferi, Cannibal Corpse, and a bunch of random stuff from Spotify suggestions, though I'm struggling to really make it a cohesive vibe.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Thank you all so much for the help! This is awesome! What a great community.
