Ooh that expensive paperwork, I forgot about that.

If you have no money then no you cannot build or buy a house, who would have known... Guess instead of borrowing 60k you'll have to pay rent for the rest of your life.

But it doesn't matter, you don't sound like someone being able to build more than a sand castle.

That's what I thought, and the person I spoke to is an architect. Maybe laws ate different in France, but I doubt it.

Houses here are like 400k€ Minimum so that matters ofc.

I'd love just having a community built somewhere, with people helping everyone. πŸ€—πŸ˜ŒIs all.

    Hello,

There are loads of people who dislike centralised services, like facebook, twitter, dropbox and so on, yet still no one seems to be very curious about decentralised systems. How come?

Lemmy scratches the surface with lots of centralised servers, but pushing it, everyone could have their own soft that, for example, is their "user". A user having "facebook"/twitter/dropbox/sharing capabilities. Still no one seems to even pursue those kind of ideas. Even in theory.

Is it because the dopamine triggering algorithm wins everyone over? The fear of using a soft that communicated on an open port on your device? Or what might it be? But that doesn't make sense to me, because people don't even discuss it. Or am I not invited to those discussions 😁?

It should be trivial to spin up a sharing system, for example (harboring laws would protect you), or some "friends, and friends friends only" network a la facebook in tje early days.

It's not limited by technology, and people are smart and curious.

    So where are they?

Edit: I know that even if the service existed, most people wouldn't use it and prefer Facebook et al. But that absolutely nobody has spun up one is what baffles me. Thousands work on the Linux kernel, where are the hardcore network nerds?

I won the ebay bidding war at 100€ +p&p for a Thinkpad p14s gen 1 with broken graphics and/or screen.

No ssd (but I have a 256GB spare) and 32GB ram and a hub.

After tinkering yesterday (sometimes it'd boot, all up to a linux on a usb stick before freezing, sometimes not at all) I let it be and continued today. Screen totally black, not a sign except the fan spinning for a second or two at power. No sign on the external screen. Nothing to do it seemed. So I opened it, removed the battery and ran on usb power. No change. Removed the 16GB (the other 16GB is soldered) and lo and behold, it's the ram socket!

So I'm a happy laptop user now 😁!
