Eh, that was just a distraction to keep people from talking about the ludicrous amount of child pornography his son had (and is currently on trial for)

He was also a big Abbott supporter and donor. I personally never, ever stop at Buc-ee's because I try my best to vote with my dollars.

I got violently ill from their nuts on an 8 hour road trip. Then my wife got equally violently ill when she ate the nuts when we got home (I thought I just had a bug).

Their restrooms are fine, but I won't go there for anything else.

Buccees has literally nothing special in that department.

Thank you for reminding me, between this and Elon I may never need a blue pill in my life at this point.

They actually meant they won't operate in states that don't let them bully the shit outta small businesses for having an animal as a logo, even if it looks absolutely nothing like theirs.

My wife got hired at the one in NW Florida. After she told me the employee rules I told her she'd be very damned sorry to take the job. I've never even heard of such a foul employer.

It's so bad that while she did paperwork and training, the HR team was non-stop rocking the phone begging people they had hired to come back in. She never went back.

They're neat stores, but they've earned a lifetime boycott from me.

Here come the No True Blue State arguments from him (and others):

"Well, Texas isn't really a Blue State, because [...]"

There is at least one buccees in VA. They lost my money because they changed their mind about building EV charging there. I was gonna go there during a road trip to shop for road trip crap while charging my car, but I had to go somewhere else to charge. Short sighted as fuck. I was gonna get jerky and a sandwich and some snacks and a drink or two, plus my wife probably wanted some stuff. But no, fuck those hippies, their money is no good here.

I don't think I could even imagine a business that would benefit more from having electric chargers outside than Buccees. Hilariously short sighted of them.

I've said for a while that movie theaters would do great with level 2 chargers in their lots

My local theater had that (before the theater shut down)! It was great. I left Thor Love and Thunder to a note stuck to my car from the Tesla owner next to me asking me to plug him in when I was done (it was a free charger to boot).

That’s like a main theme of the republican agenda. Own the libs and shoot themselves in the foot.

  • I mean the Musk part of it is just weird. He owns an EV company, spends his money to hurt EV sales, supports Texas being anti EVs, but wants to move all his businesses there. Like the whole EV cab business only works if the people are willing to get in the cabs. And he's trying to convince people on the right to hate them, and the left to hate him...

So he has to be losing half the market intentionally it seems.

We're part of why he started saying that. Colorado had one location and they're trying to build a second in Palmer Lake/Monument (little town along I-25 between Colorado Springs and Denver). They got ALOT of blowback over it because the location is very rural and across the street from a massive wildlife reserve. A giant Bucees there would seem very out of place. Also, it will be on nonrenewable well water. They tried to get annexed by the city of Palmer Lake (actual town is quite some distance from where the Bucees would go) but somebody realized that the money from Bucees would barely cover the cost of drilling new wells, in addition to all the pushback. So that got canned. But they're STILL trying to build it. Looks like they might even succeed.

They're massively overrated anyway. Just a glorified gas station. Their food used to be top notch, but they have since cut costs and now they're no better than any generic fast food place. Restrooms are kept clean. That's all they have going for them.

Texan here. Buccees is WILDLY overrated. Their food used to be really good but they've apparently cut costs on it and now are no better than any other fast food place. They're just a glorified, gimicky gas station. Restrooms are always clean though.

They seem like the weird fixation people have here in the northeast about Wawa and Sheetz. People, they are just shitty convenience stores with gas pumps. Relax!

It's too bad because I really liked Buc-ee's. Texas has a strong road trip culture, and it was nice to enjoy that before America started going to shit.
