This happened just an hour ago or so. Went in to a local grocery shop and grabbed some carrots, oranges and bananas. Paid in cash and went out my way to put everything in my bicycle's panniers and... there she was going in her own bicycle. It was like in the Fellowship of the Ring when the hobbits see Arwen. At that very instant I saw her face my jaw dropped, almost literally, and I think she noticed I was mesmerized or something because she did a gesture of like trying to look my way but doing a gesture of "what a creep" or something. After 5 seconds or so she was gone and most probably I won't ever see her again.

How do you get over something like that? I'm still so mesmerized I can't believe a human being so ridiculously gorgeous can exist in the same plane as an ugly weirdo like me.

Just be happy that beauty like that can exist and that you can appreciate it.

I get over other people by remembering they will probably forget my existence within 30 seconds to 5 mins and I'll never cross their mind again

See more of them. There's a lot of pretty people.

Go to any big city, preferably in a different country or area where people look ever so slightly different or have different fashion. You'll see that there's basically infinite many beautiful people.

I just take her out for walks, pet her belly, and get her a nice bone from the pet store. 🤷‍♂️

(the most beautiful girl in the world is my Siberian husky 😋)

Appreciate her beauty and remember it is ephemeral. With a few exceptions, all of us look mid at best by 50, let alone 70. Beauty is beautiful to look at. I appreciate beauty, but I wouldn't trade my wife for the most beautiful woman in the world.

My uncle has a way of putting this: no matter how great a woman is, someone, somewhere, is sick of her shit. I generously assume he also meant for that to apply with the genders reversed.

It was in college and I sat down next to her in the library. I did my best to ask her out but she shot me down.

2 years later we were in the same genetics class and I sat down next to her the first day. We ended up being assigned as lab partners much to her dismay. She immediately requested a new partner. Professor told her to "Either work with him or take an F."

4 weeks later we were counting fruit flies and she invited back to her place for dinner. After dinner she pounced on me (she has a different version of the story).

Couple weeks later the genetics professor caught us in the stairwell kissing before class and about died laughing.

We got married a year later after she graduated. Been married for 25 years now.

I think the only thing to do is put a stick in the spoke of your front wheel.

    Hear me out.

You're already head over heels, you might as well make it literal. Also, if she comes over to help, out was meant to be. If not, she was probably a terrible person.

Edit: remember - no matter how hot they are, there's always someone who's sick and tired of putting up with their shit.

Oh you become an adult that is aware of the fact that beauty means nothing in the face of love and support. Over time, that beauty becomes a deterrent to your needs.

I think most people use art, in whatever form they can. Get that out of your system.so it does.not drive you (too) crazy. "Art" can be subjective here 🤣

You learn from your mistake - Do you feel like you should have struck when the iron was hot? Next time you feel that feeling, strike when the iron is hot. Do you feel like you gawked and made her feel uncomfortable? Next time smile and see if it's recipricated. Do you feel like you are not worthy of an attractive partner? Work on yourself and use this experience as fuel to be better.

Uh, don't do that. That girl has loads of guys trying to "strike when the iron is hot" every day.

Be lucky there is beauty in this world, but don't try to appropriate it just because you saw it, or you might destroy it.

I have had loads of opportunities and more, but I have never ever harassed a girl just because I like her looks.

    That's just creepy.

It might be a fine line (IDK) but don't be a creep.

When did I advocate for harassment? When did I advocate for being creepy? What a bizarre line of thinking.

If you make people uncomfortable, well, that's creepy (your first post talks about it without flinching), and maybe you don't do that.

The problem is that creeps think they aren't creepy, and just needs to "find the right thing to do/say" like it's some sort of puzzle. Don't be that person is all I'm saying!

Yeah, I was going to say something like this. But more like: just learn how to be a friendly, cheerful person in general. Not just to people you think are attractive, but to anyone (as appropriate.) Then when you see someone like this you'll have the ability to say "hey, nice bike" or something like that in the same way that you'd say it to anyone.

Rule No.1. There will always be somebody more attractive than the last. So try not too dwell.

Rule No.2. Wait about 10 years till your paths cross again and then marry them. That's what I did :). (We were in a smaller city, so more chances of connecting again.)

Keep her in the basement so I don't have to.

Or just realize that looks aren't everything and there is a decent chance she could be a shitty person and obsessing over looks isn't healthy. Talk to people.

Should've run up to her and offered her an orange to prove that you're not a weirdo. Now she thinks you're a weirdo.

You're lost in lust and you don't know much. Now you're thinking aloud, falling out of touch. You gotta get back on your feet, and be eager to be what she's wanting.

The heart wants what the heart wants.

The question you are asking is do you follow your heart. People will have very different opinions on that.

  • I had a similar experience once. Was working the front desk with a partner. There was a line after they talked with me. I told her to she could go on ahead forgetting the line. My partner asked why I did that and I didn't realize I had until he snapped me out of it. It can happen. Never saw her again. Still think of the experience and laugh occasionally

Its still very much a thing in the US. Maybe not as popular as it was 10 years ago, but people are still posting to it. A local radio DJ used to read off some of them as part of their talk show for laughs…some are pretty entertaining lol 😂

That is funny to me; I love seeing beautiful people but they don't stun me like that, I can't really be attracted to someone I've not met. And I couldn't define a "most beautiful" because there are just so many different ways to be beautiful.

I mean my wife is already out of my league so I don't need to fantasize about the absolute most beutiful girl in the world stumbling into me if she is even on this continent. Im pretty old to so she would likely be like some prime beuty age or something and way to young for me. So I would not be surprised if I did not even notice her.
