I started getting uncontrolled erections whenever my sat nav told me where to go. Now I know that Knight Rider was to blame.

Return of the Jedi Special Edition in 1997 was a... formative experience for me.

I was a little too old to get excited by a split second flash by the time this came out so I never checked, but did they edit her nipple out or leave it?

  • I didn't even notice that she had a wardrobe malfunction back when I saw the movie as a kid - I only learned that bit of Star Wars trivia a few years later when I got internet access. I think they left it in, but I also figure that Femi Taylor probably had pasties on under that costume anyway.

I grew up white trash. It is what it is. That belly button changed me. Just...there for all to see!? And she was moving, unlike the Sears catalogs. Crazy.

Some of mine were there even before any media influence whatsoever. It probably helps with discovery, sure. But to me, they seem to be entirely innate.

Same honestly, it's rather strange how I remember having mine at an early age, and that's when I didn't have any internet access of the sort, no sexual trauma or encounters.

I had freebasics when I was younger, but long after having my tastes. At the time it only allowed you to browse specific sites without images, one of them being Wikipedia and I remember thinking I must have been a reincarnation of either Sade or Masoch. Strange thoughts!

I listened to a thing from a sex psychologist ages ago who talked about this. She said there was a connection between the developing arousal (sexual) and arousal (general emotional) that forms during the transition from childhood to adolescence, so there is commonly a connection formed between something the then-child has strong emotions toward, positive or negative, so a person can develop a sexual fixation on something beloved (mommy/daddy is perfect love personified. Dinosaurs are so frigging cool. etc.) or terrifying. (Mommy/daddy is mad. The monster is going to eat me all up. etc.)

Could also be that those kinks already exists in our minds undiscovered and is what creates the draw toward these particular shows in the first place.

Though, most people here are talking about crushes which is a different thing. Personally I really stuggle to draw a line from a kink I have to a show I watched in childhood.

Apparently, "kink", "fetish", and "things I like in a slightly sexual way, or even just obsess over" all mean the same thing now. Oh, and "obsess" is another such word.

This is one reason it's so hard to communicate clearly.

    Man, communication is hard.

You can say something and someone else interprets it, and they make all the noises to suggest that they understand what you said, but it's very difficult to be certain that you're both thinking the same thing. All too often the same words mean something very different to people.

People also use words more loosely in some contexts and more strictly in others. Like the expressions you mentioned could all basically be synonyms in most contexts, but if you were talking to a sexual partner or a sex therapist, you'd probably want to be more exact with the words you use.

But here's the issue, how do you know how exact someone is being when they're talking to you? If you're guessing at their level of precision, then you're only guessing at their actual meaning. Problematic.

Not a kink in any way, but my fascination in age regression stories certainly came from the cartoons I watched, new and old at the time. Whether a plot point of the episode or just a gag.

    JLU? Kids stuff

KND? Operations Fountain, Cable TV, amd Grow Up

    Tiny Toons? School dance episode

BTBB? The Shazam family & Dr. Sivana episode

    MlaaTR? Good Old Sheldon

I could go on, but I think that's enough.

Weirdly, whenever the thing I like now (or stuff that could be compared to it anyway, since obviously the intent of the authors of those movies and shows was different from that of people making fetish art) would come up in tv and movies when I was a kid, I actually found it scary to a degree most other scary scenes didnt. And the second-oldest dream I can still remember having from when I was a kid was a nightmare involving it. Clearly at some point during or after puberty my brain did a 180 on that but since I dont remember the subject ever coming up in anything I watched during my teens, I cant pinpoint exactly when that was.

Apparently the signals for arousal and fear can get cross-wired in your brain. It wasn't fear for me, but I remember when I was a hormonal teen, I would play video games and get so fucking frustrated is have to crank one out to feel better. Maybe that's the same thing. Maybe I was just weird.

Also apparently that's why taking a date to a horror movie or amusement park can get you laid. Or maybe it's all bullshit.

Wasn’t really allowed to have the tv on in my house. Guess that explains the therapy.
