What's the point of joining a communist party that will recieve less than 1% of 1% of the vote? It makes more sense to turn the Democratic party communist. Unless we have ranked choice voting, third parties aren't viable. It sucks but that's the situation we're in. If you're running for office and have great ideas than it's wasted unless you run under one of the two major parties.

    What exactly is the use case of NixOS? (piefed.world)
     

    I'm an Arch user (CachyOS now) and I've gotten used to doing things a certain way. Anyway, I have another computer with a fresh Windows 11 install. After literally 5 hours of troubleshooting, I still could not get the fuckass wi-fi drivers installed. People who say Windows is easy clearly never had to install it. I eventually said fuck it and decided to install NixOS. I'm used to Arch based distros so I wanted to try something new. I'm very confused about how it works and what it's intended use case is. I spent an hour trying to figure out how to install micro permanently. I did RTFM but It didn't really help. I guess I'm hoping someone can share some words of encouragement and/or convince and/or bully me into sticking with this weird ass distro.

    I'm sure someone won't be happy about this post but I don't know where else to post about it. I was on YouTube looking for educational content about Procyon (a star) and I stumble across this shit. What in the Heaven's Gate fuck am I looking at? This led me to the dude's website. His site, I'm pretty sure is at least partially written by LLM's. I definitely spotted some AI "art". He's peddling his shitty probably AI written book and you can book a session with him for $222 AUD. Genuinely, what the fuck is this? Is it a cult, some scam, or some mentally ill individual?

    What are some good astronomy related YouTube channels? (piefed.world)
     

    I've recently gotten into I guess you could say amateur astronomy. I've been having fun identifying stars and planets in the night sky. I wanted some resources to learn more but with the large volume of AI bullshit plaguing YouTube and the web in general it's become harder to find anything quality. Also, if you have any other resources to learn from such as books and websites I'd be grateful for those recommendations as well. Thank you!

    Did Sisko make the right decision in S02 EP05 Cardassians? [Spoilers for this episode!] (piefed.world)
     

    For context, Rugal was the young Cardassian boy raised by Bajoran parents. Sisko is deliberating between sending Rugal back to Cardassia to live with his biological father when Rugal wishes to remain on Bajor with his adoptive parents. Sisko decides to send the boy to Cardassia to live with his biological father who he doesn't love or remember. What the fuck Sisko? It's a completely ass backward decision on his part, if you ask me which of course you don't. Poor Rugal.

    For those who don't remember Star Trek: Voyager, Season 4, Episode 13.

    Tap for spoilerIt's the episode where evil aliens probably inspired by Freddy Krueger force you to fall asleep and invade your dreams. The Voyager crew all share a collective dream in which the aliens control.

    This one scared me as a kid. Revisisting it as an adult, I think it's more cool than anything. Not really scary and at times funny. Y'all liked this one? It's a neat episode.
