Something in your setup is triggering them. Some ad blocker, tracking blocker, or VPN you use is making these sites worry you're malicious. Not saying you have to turn that all off, but it's likely some piece of your setup might be a bit excessive and you can do without that setting or piece of it.

Watching this trailer I have no idea who this movie is for anymore. My kid watched these when she was little but the story of this one seems targeted at adults with teenage kids. I won't be watching it.

First, I must re-iterate that the community rules require all bot owners to seek permission from moderators before posting.

At this time I am not aware of any bot approved by the previous mods and I have not approved any bots to post here. Bots violating this rule will be permanently banned without warning.

Our new rule 14 is that this is a community for humans, NO LLM bot will ever have permission to post here. Do not ask.

Selfhosters what is the power draw of your entire setup? And have you done anything special to manage it you'd like to share?

Including all network equipment I use around 110kWh of good ol' 120V 60Hz USA juice per month. Averaging about 215 watts of power draw for my systems. Nothing amazing, but I like to think that it's a conservative setup for everything I accomplish with it. I'm paying around $25 a month for my setup. None of that includes my work PC or personal PC, just hosting infrastructure.

Other than trying to make sure all power states are available on my server I haven't done a lot of power conservation.

I'm curious what you all have.

Why YSK: If you violate the rules, you and/or your posts may be removed.

First I would like to state that I have avoided changing the rules as I felt my role as the replacement mod was to step in and keep the community going as is. I didn't start this community, it's not mine, it's ours. After giving it some time I feel these two changes are important for moderation and my personal sanity.

The new rules are as follows:

Rule 12- Linking directly to a video as a source is not acceptable.

The reason I have added 12 is because overwhelmingly posts linking directly to videos violate one or more rules. They are always low effort and bring down the quality of posts in the community. This saves you having to watch the video to report it, and saves me having to watch the video to remove it.

Rule 13- If you file a report, include what specific rule is being violated and how.

I have made this a rule because of an annoying minority that spam their apps "violates community rules" button and then argue with me when i ask them to explain the rules violation in their reports. This text was already included at the bottom of the sidebar, but I have promoted it to an official rule for those annoying few.

Please don't expect the community to give you answers to your questions which you then delete right afterwards. Those of us who put time into answering your questions are not doing so just to serve your personal needs, we are here to help build a community knowledge base that others can search and reference.

This has become a chronic issue with Lemmy and its starting to feel like it's a waste of time to answer questions.

Many of the existing mods have become inactive and the Lemmy.world community team asked me to step in as an active member.

You should know because I need you to report rule violations. I've done my best to clean up the backlog and will be keeping an eye out.

I've never really sought out being a mod before, other than trying to start a more niche community or two. I'd appreciate a little grace while I try to navigate how to best provide this service to the community.

    Thoughts on Kanar (memory-alpha.fandom.com)

Whenever we see Kanar portrayed in the show it's always a thick viscous liquid for something most humans would consider a drink. But it occurred to me that the vast majority of the times we see it, it's not in the normal Cardassian environment. Cardassians like it much warmer than Humans and Bajorans. Would Kanar be less viscous on Cardasia than we see it on DS9? Even most instances when we see it on Cardassia, the founder is very sick and demanding the temperature be turned down in the facility.

Love this city, the whole place is a gallery. Took this photo today and had to share it. Found details about the work.
