The instant we announce to the galaxy we've unlocked FTL travel, they'll send a probe to destroy the planet. Until then, they'll leave us be, we're no threat. Better that than to risk who we might be, what we might do. They learned the hard way, barely surviving, now they don't take any chances.

The real solution to the Fermi Paradox.

If term limits are good for the President, why not Congress. Or, should we eliminate term limits for the President?

I disagree. Newly elected folks who aren't career politicians are far less corrupt than those who've been in office for decades and who have established relationships with the filthy rich.

Power doesn't initially exclusively attract people who want to abuse it, the corruption comes over time. Power corrupts, but not immediately.

In the movie "The Wizard of Oz", which is set in Kansas, The Wicked Witch of the East, who is the sister of The Wicked Witch of the West, is crushed under Dorothy's house at the beginning of the movie. In the image below you can see the ruby slippers on the feet of The Wicked Witch of the East. Those are the slippers Dorothy uses to return home after visiting Oz.

They can part them out and make back a few bucks--batteries, motors, stainless steel, maybe the wheels--nothing like the ~$100K they're in debt for, though. Maybe if they strip the body off, some of them can build something useful on the chassis? Or, are they complete garbage?

EDIT: Ope, nope, they aren't built like that at all. I suppose most cars aren't anymore, everything is "unibody":

I'm finally moving forward on a project I've been contemplating and working on more-off-than-on for about five years now. I'm planning on using the Bottango Solar Board and software to drive it.

Pan and tilt eyes, jaw, rotate and tilt head, plus one servo for each arm for simple gesturing. Ten servos, which is all the board can handle without adding another board. Skull will be 3D printed, skeleton is store bought. The head rotation is via a turntable bearing on top of a universal joint for tilting. The two plates connected to the rod and universal joint, and for mounting the bearing are aluminum.

I'll have him tell bad dad jokes, halloween puns, and one-liners. He'll stand on a wooden platform, dressed in a ragged suit. I like this idea better than "spooky", threatening comments. I'd much rather entertain with jokes.

I'm happy to hear any suggestions or warnings about such a project. My experience with this sort of thing is limited to an old RC glider I built years ago.
