My ex is even worse than I remembered and I’m glad the court could see that today.

    I'm glad for you.

Every once in a while I look up my last ex, who destroyed me emotionally. She's gotten fat, looks ten years older than she is, and I find that terribly satisfying.

Used to make me sad. Now I look her up for fun.

It was a lot of fun watching the same manipulation techniques that used to work so well on me fail miserably on the judge.

First time in a month my Friday night D & D group is playing. I'm DM'ing a homebrew campaign I created on various adventures I've played over the last 48 years.

Had to go through my notes today and adjust a few things.

Why the hiatus? We're all adults with lives of our own.

Our biweekly game that I DM became monthly and then just sort of stopped last year. It felt like folks had other priorities and I took it a bit harder than I should've. It's crazy how much time and thought you can put into a homebrew campaign that centers players' stories

I've been with this group for 7 years, will be 8 in January.

This is only the second time I've DM'D. Not because I don't want to, we have a person dedicated to the role and he's pretty good. I'm doing this to give him a break and give the other players, who are all much younger, a look at what old school AD&D was like while playing modern rules.

Also, I've never considered myself a very good DM.

    I'm thinking about my mom.

She did not plan well for old age and so she's essentially lived off Social Security and help from my siblings and I. One of my brothers died two years ago. My dad died earlier this year. She became homeless a year ago, but is living with one of my sisters. She's driving for DoorDash every day in a car I lent her two and a half years ago.

But she's very close to finally getting a very nice apartment in a senior community subsidized by my tax dollars through the state, and I'm very excited for her to have her own clean, quiet place to just exist.

That sounds like a lot on your and your siblings' shoulders. Good for you, for doing what you can for her. I hope that you can maintain healthy boundaries, while doing what you deem is right to do for her.

    We try.

No one gives her cash, which is a huge boundary for all of us. If she needs an item, we buy a quality version of it. If she needs food or something else, we pool resources for a gift card.

Luckily for her, when I bought my condo three years ago I specifically picked a place near good public trans, and I became an e-scooter guy this year, so I don't need a car. She lives in a suburb and, unfortunately has to have a car to live, so I get through it.

“Was it the ramen?”, I’m thinking as I’m shitting liquid in a grocery store restroom as I’m typing this.

Let's face it, those are the only types of shits those toilets ever see from the public.

Grocery store shitter is like top 3 "notorious for supersonic liquid shits"...along with visibly unhygenic gas station bathroom and convenience store bathroom that's not for customers but it's clearly that or the floor.

still reeling from being fired with no given reason last week, still trying to come to terms with the fact that i may be burnt out, still unwilling to go outside and do things with my loved ones. i'm too drained to actually think.

One week isn't much time. Take some time to recover, but from my experience that recovery can become self-reincorcing isolation, so you'll have to get out there eventually. For now, file for unemployment, figure out health care if needed, and get contact info for people you want to keep contact with. Unemployment sucks hard enough, best to focus on recovery for a bit

NWSL playoffs. The first quarterfinal kicks off in ~3 hours and my team's match is at 9:30 am on Sunday. I foresee some real NWSL After Dark stuff this time around.

How Hakeem Jeffries and Schumer will likely be given leadership even though this entire tsunami vote was against the two of them as much as the present admin.

That nothing will change. We’re all fucked.

    How’s your day?

I'm kinda on that wavelength too.

The last time I was hopeful for the future of the US was the immediate aftermath of Obama's election. He won a huge mandate and he was definitely going to end the wars, hold Wall Street accountable, roll back War on Terror civil liberties violations, and pass universal health care.

None of it happened. He governed as a neo-conservative and we've all been slowly, but steadily getting poorer ever since. He even turned our two wars into seven. (That we know of.)

I don't believe any of the promises of these Democrats except maybe the handful of DSA's. I hope when they get into office I'm proven wrong, but Dems just have too long of a track record of making promises and breaking them.

It looks like the rain won't let up before sunset, so I won't be going for my usual evening walk. I went for a longer walk this morning, in case this happened.

  • I'm mostly thinking about tomorrow, I have a magic the gathering night planned that should be a lot of fun. Gonna bring the cube and a pile of commander decks, see what the vibe is. Not many people were able to come to this one, but it should still be good!

Going to session 1 of a Cyberpunk D&D campaign tomorrow and I know almost nothing about Cyberpunk but it should be cool. My buddy is the DM, his gf who I don't like will be there, along with her friend that they're trying to set me up with. She seems cool but if I were to date her that might mean I would either have to hang out with my friend's gf more, or tell the friend that I don't like the gf. Also I don't think my buddy and his gf have a healthy relationship. I think each of them needs to be with someone more emotionally stable than themself. Publicly he will tell you he's deeply in love. He's gone full step-dad. There have been multiple instances of him getting drunk and indicating that she's destroying him inside. We'll see how it goes.

We all designed mini figures on Hero Forge and I'm 3D printing them now, which is cool.

im becoming progressively more fatigued by the presence of someone in my main friend group, and i dont know what to do about it. its not that shes a bad person or anything, but shes careless of my personal space even though she knows i dont want her to touch me and she oscillates between being extremely quiet and way overly apologetic about shit that doesnt matter and being excessively loud and overexcited. as a neurodivergent person i understand where shes coming from. part of whats making her grate on me is that i used to be more like that and its kind of uncomfortable being around someone dealing with emotional issues ive worked past, but a lot of it is its just... as much as it pains me to say it, annoying. i find her annoying. ugh i hate feeling that way about someone. i kind of want to stop being around her but we're in the same friend group so i cant really avoid her entirely, and i dont see confronting her about her behavior being productive. so yeah idk what to do about it so im just ruminating on it, probably pointlessly.

Felt like making a parody song to celebrate Luigiangione.

People didn’t seem to understand it.

    Maybe you will:

    Every breath you take

    And every move you make

    Every bond you break

    Every step you take

    I'll be watching you

    Every single day

    And every word you say

    Every game you play

    Every night you stay

    I'll be watching you

Oh, can't you see you belong to me?

    How I feed you fakes

    with every step you take

    Every job you take

    Each moment you’re awake

    Regardless what’s at stake

If you just pick up a rake

    I’ll be watching you

Since I came, You’ve  been lost without a trace

You’re sweet intelligence I have replaced

You feel so cold, and have no one too embrace

You keep crying baby, baby, please

    Mm, mm, mm, mm

    Mm, mm, mm

Oh, can't you see you belong to me?

Unless you smash your phone, you never will be free!

    You can save your life

    Cut out all that strife

    You can walk away

    Do it today

But if you leave I can’t watch you all the time

No more distractions and corporate slime

You’ll have private picnics in the sun

When you meet out justice you can run

Trust me this is will be fun!

    Corporations will be undone

    They won’t be watching you!
