President Trump fell asleep at the 9/11 memorial ceremony.

The president dozed off at multiple points during the event Friday, slumped over in his chair with his eyes closed and his head hanging down while everyone else onstage—Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Melania Trump, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice—was clearly awake.

I don’t care if he falls asleep. I just get disappointed that he wakes up.

Reminder that like 90% of his election campaign was telling everyone that sleepy people are unfit for office.

It wasn’t just him. Every media outlet hounded Biden about his age, and now they ignore Trump’s decline. It’s my best evidence of the media being captured and controlled by this authoritarian oligarchy.

They name the names like it's admirable the rest stayed awake, but I think they are all just bracing for the inevitable cropdusting. Dude likes to shit while he sleeps, going by the videos I've seen. Note how there is no one behind him, and his wife is seated far enough away to allow plenty of airflow between them.

Also note the unevenness in his face: the right side of his mouth (his right; to the left in the pic, last one in the article) is markedly different from the left, even when he appears to be facing the camera directly, and that entire side of his face is somewhat slumped compared to the other. Seems to be getting worse these days.

From what I remember Biden used to fall asleep cause he's mentally challenged

Biden was old af, and was definitely on the decline during the period before he dropped out of the election, but I don't ever recall him falling asleep at official events.

Have a link or something to refresh my memory since it's so fresh in yours?

Gonna just let the "mentally challenged" thing slide I guess... I know it can be difficult not to project sometimes. You did your best.

Trump falls asleep cause he actually tries working whatever

Care to explain how this is supposed to work? He's falling asleep because he's trying to work?

Did I just waste time typing up a reply to an LLM? Because goddamn this isn't even a coherent thought.

Trump is just tired because he stayed up late the night before doing blow and raping children with his Republican buddies. He just worked overtime for the American people, raping their children.

I didn't look at the post history of this person and if they are not being sarcastic they're a moron so I figured I would make an assumption it was a joke and not another r word take.

That's just the world I want to live in though I guess. Like if someone unironically thinks Trump is doing a good job or Biden was more "sleepy" they're pants on head dumb.

That second photo... he's definitely had a stroke right? Some photos from the last several months have shown that drooping side of his mouth and this one is pretty clear.

Sure looks like it. It could be Bells Palsey too though, an inflammation of the nerve going to one side of the face, caused by an inflammation a nerve from infection or a virus or unknown causes.

The way to tell, if it's Bells Palsey, the eyebrow still works, if it's a stroke, the eyebrow is frozen too.

Another one, that is what, 36 times he's fallen asleep at official functions with cameras on him. Or something like that I heard as of like a week ago.

The party is running the show, the president doesn't know what is going on at this point and seems to be declining fast. He does have the best medical care in the world.

Probably getting daily injections of that little trafficked orphan juice shit that his Q buddies accused the opponents of rw extremism of drinking. After all, every accusation is a confession seems to have precious few exceptions with what I know.

It's probably easier to just blame me than look at the absurdity of what Democrats did in 2024 and admit it to themselves.

As far as voting reform goes, the American people have been powerless to do that in any meaningful way for our entire history. The founders only gave wealthy, landowning men the right to vote. There was never any real intention for the poor or working class to be able to select a president. Our only real political power is local, and at least locally, good things are still possible. (For now.)

Millennia ago there was Athenian democracy. Randomly select citizens to fill roles in judiciary, executive council and assembly for a year. Pretty hard to corrupt. Worked well for centuries, they even returned to it after king making coups. Representative democracy was corrupt and serving the rich and powerful about day one. Sure, first past the post is awful, but there's higher things to aim for than Instant-runoff or whatever. Direct democracy is more viable than ever.

I am intrigued by the roman system of electing two of every position for one year terms. They wouldn't elect one proconsul (leading an army contingent or something of the like,) but two. Sometimes in a campaign it reached absurd levels as each would take turns leading the army every day.

But what we should do, and this is a moonshot that would take time, is a new constitutional amendment establishing a Tribunate, the tribune with the power to veto acts of government, provide asylum to the accused, whose own safety is invoilable.

The Roman peasants got the tribunes in 500 bc then 350 bc they expanded it in two general strikes, where they encamped to one of their great hills and refused to work until they got reforms, the tribunate being one. It was organized by tribe I think. They also forced a written set of laws in the first one iirc, the twelve tables, as the rich just made shit up as they went prior.

    Sure, Jan.

We're just not gonna blame Kamala Harris for looking at a bunch of people who can't afford groceries and insisting that we be joyful. Awesome, perfectly run campaign.

We're gonna blame the guy who voted for a politician that he actually agreed with instead.

This definitely isn't on me. It's on you guys.

Regardless of votes, remember who it's really on. The ones who are playing us against each other. Yes, it's also the fault of people who voted for him many times, and for those who split a vote where only two party voting would have given him a loss. AND for those who allowed the DNC to make so many bad choices. AND Harris for dropping what seemed to be a working campaign for a bit. AND... well, it goes on.

But it's the ones laughing at the top. They're the real problem. Never forget. They love to see this finger pointing at the bottom, it makes them feel safe.

You would've let a lot of people get fucked because you're a selfish american who have no trouble being gigantic hypocrites punch down on others for their own benefit and are OK with their shithole extorting, terrorizing and murdering in other countries as long as they aren't bothered.
Trump is the best thing that could happen for the world.
You totally deserve it. I hope you suffer as much as possible and your violent cancer country gets destroyed from the inside.

I don't know that they're necessarily centrists. I think they're as hopeless as I am and, at this point, things just feel less bleak electing a genocider that pretends to like gay people or whatever vs a genocider who hates and insults everyone. (Not that I would agree, and in fact, it infuriates me even more when a politician leverages the language of equality and progress to cover war crimes.)

But hopefully they recognize that they have actual power in their local neighborhood and aren't willing to vote 'blue no matter who' there.
