I use the cheap ones on Amazon that require no subscription and use an app called CloudEdge. They're limited, but they take video and send notifications on motion quite reliably and you can get a live look through them anytime anywhere. They're like $30 and I've already had two for over two years without issues. App bugs you to upgrade/AI, but is easy to ignore. Might be sending secret info to the Chinese government about how often the post arrives, but I only use them outside anyway.

Discord is as much spyware as anything else. Its efficiency in using my computer's resouces in order to log everything about me, build a dossier on me and sell me out at every opportunity is not a consideration, as I view it as something to be avoided like Meta, et al.

    That said, Electron does suck.

You can tell the ones who are plants because they'll all be repeating these lines. I mean we mostly know anyway, but this is the shit they're gonna be parroting every chance they get.

Mississippi is terrible. Driving through it, even if there were no road signs you know the second you arrive because everything goes to shit. Fuckin' state looks like nothing more than the post-apocalypse. Decrepit buildings, roads gone to shit, cops hiding every 10 miles to ticket you and billboards with Bible verses on them everywhere.

So of course they're still fighting like hell for the billionaires that are pissing in their stupid faces.

I think one important detail that's missing in the OP is the reason you would have not one but two reserved floppy drives. It was so that you could copy files from one floppy to another and duplicate floppies much more easily. Also, when installing games that came on multiple floppies, you could have one drive going while you switched the other one out. For this reason both A: and B: ended up reserved for floppies, as many people had more than one.

Read some articles in Simple English Wikipedia. It's at roughly a 6th grade level.

Edit: bear in mind when you do that even Simple English Wikipedia will be easily understood by only around 29% of the total number of literacy-challenged people in America. You and yours are probably not anywhere near either group.

I know Lemmy hates AI but it is incredibly useful for exactly this kind of thing (among other things). I had a very close friend who died recently who made an extremely niche but extremely deep/amazing website from 1999-2010. With the help of his family, I found archives of his database and web root files. These files were all legacy formats I wasn't even familiar with and his coding style was wild, not just eccentric but showing an actual misunderstanding of some basic concepts that echoed through his code. This is a very extensive site, I couldn't have hoped to resurrect it without months and months of work. Feeding it all to the AI, it took me about two weeks, and it works perfectly. Like my friend hadn't even got it to work like he wanted back in 2010 and I managed to finish it for him with AI's help - and it would not have happened otherwise, because I would not have had the time to dedicate to it.

To anyone using gore groups to target and exploit children: the FBI and our partners are coming for you. We are using every tool at our disposal to combat nihilistic violent extremism, bring offenders to justice and protect America’s children

    What?

1 in 4 people you see walking on the street in America are functionally illiterate. More than half can only read at somewhere around a 6th grade level or below. The US glorifies and revels in ignorance.

I just got a new wood/gas fired pizza oven (Pizzelo, 16"). I've gotten pretty good at NY style in my home oven, so it was time to up my game and take on real deal Neapolitan.

This is 100% sourdough at 66% hydration, topped with a sauce of little more than straight San Marzano tomatoes, topped with fresh mozzarella and grated Parmesan, a drizzle of olive oil and garnished with fresh basil leaf. Fired at ~900F (480C), bakes in about 90 terrifying seconds, as expected.

It's a challenge to keep it from burning, one which I have not quite mastered, but the flavor is already out of this world!
