You miss the point.

You're posting in the wrong community. Free software is free and open source, not unpaid. It's a philosophy and structure, not a price point.

This community is about that kind of free, not free as in no price.

Edit: the sidebar of the community defines it. A screenshot, in case you don't know how to find the sidebar

    Not a ton.

A few hundred DVD s and blurays, maybe a dozen vhs, and maybe a half terabyte of digital.

My thing about physical film media is the extras. Music? You can snag liner notes and cover art easy enough. But a good DVD is going to have all kinds of extras, navigable in one place with less effort. You often have better sound, and you definitely have less hassle with subtitles or alternate dialogue tracks.

The thing I hate is that no storage media is eternal. I've had hard to replace movies just fail completely due to age.

Yeah, definitely not bringing anything to those communities.

Mind you, nobody can bring anything to them without building the kind of network of actual professionals together, and having access to thorough and capable mod tools. The lack of the tools means the scientists and historians are absolute not going to put in the effort that made the reddit versions of those community names so useful.

    You forgot the meta tag.

Don, or whatever one prefers to call that account and all the stories it has put out regarding its ownership, does indeed forget that past a variable but small limit, even good posts become spam. You can't just flood any forum and maintain good will.

That being said, I ain't mad. I ain't happy, but as long as it isn't an all the time thing, any given community can handle a spate like that. Plus, the account does engage in good faith in comments at least part of the time, so I can't object on the basis of it being essentially a bot. There is some degree of of human curation going on (whether one likes the results or not), and that human or humans does interact in a meaningful way. I can't find any rancor towards that. Not saying anyone else has to feel the same, just putting it out there that the overall effect isn't negative.

Fuck Newsome. If he gets the candidacy, I'll be sitting that election out.

However, even a broken, outdated analog clock can be right in specific circumstances. I guess this is his one time

    Nope, total scam!

Nobody with a real starter kit would make the deal for less than 3 kilos of prime Ethiopian arabica. This is just three mosses in a trenchcoat pretending to be algae

I swear, people think we're all noobs out here

The only mistakes buffy made were not putting her foot down when her supposed friends would ride her ass about shit. That's it. She never did anything worthy of some of the venom she caught from people that should have known better.

And, in the case of her "escape" after her mom found out she was slaying, she should have put her foot up their collective asses day one.

Now, this also includes putting up with Angel's shit, and spike's, and Riley's.

But, she wasn't without flaws even in that context, the screenshot aside. I still maintain that most of the errors in judgement she made would have either not been made, or been made in different ways, had she better support across the board.

A lot of critics of the character forget how damn young she was, and how sheltered her upbringing was (overall). The errors of judgement she made that weren't done by having so little true support, unconditional support that took into account exactly how horrible her life became in such a short time, were made due to youth.

Think about it. Two adults in her life. A mom that she was repeatedly told she couldn't tell, and thus couldn't give her motherly support as a slayer at all. The other her watcher. A bunch of creepy old men that think they own a teenage girl, with her watcher in specific pounding get responsibility into her, even long after she'd proven herself.

That's it. Everyone else was a teenager and an idiot. Xander because he was an idiot, Willow because she was even more sheltered and naive than Buffy. I don't blame them for lacking the ability to be mature, capable friends all the time. They got shoved into things they were completely unprepared for and lacked even the advantage of Slayerhood. At first. They never gave up the bullshit attitude, though it did get less egregious towards the last season or two. But it is still the case that had that miraculously been impossibly mature and capable, Buffy would have had better support and thus made better choices.

I acknowledge that it's all the writers' fault because it's fiction, I'm treating it in universe.

So, yah, Buffy did nothing wrong. She did as well, or better, than anyone else her age in her situation could have done, and often showed a depth of character that the adults along the way lacked.

Very specific band name. Not approximately a couple of hundred, not 199, not 201, exactly 200 stab wounds.

Which seems like an attempt to cover up the death by virtue of looking like overkill (though they sure don't sound like Overkill) while actually being a highly organized and disciplined stabber.

I mean, to keep track of how many stabs you're doing all the way to 200, and not get carried away and just keep going? That's discipline! Or, maybe they got carried away at 100, did the 101st, got mad at themselves for the lack of discipline and had to go to 200 to prove that they could stop while also having a compulsion to work in groups of 100.

That raises the question of why not 300? Is it because it's an odd number, or just too much work? Obviously, 400 is just right out, who could stab that many times? The arm would be exhausted. I guess you could build a stabbing machine, but at that point, where's the fun?

I'm a big fan of throw builds, with giant barb + ice gear and a giant barb throw-all-the-enemies-at-each-other being maybe the most fun I've had.

But there's other throw options out there. I know eldritch knight throwers exist, though I've never tried it what with enjoying other EK play enough that I rarely experiment with them.

Never did rogue knife throw run either, for the same reason.

Figured I'd ask my fellow lemmizens and see what y'alls preferred throwers are, what builds you like, etc.

I run pretty heavily modded nowadays, so I'm interested in any opinions about those as well.

Posting partly because I enjoy this performance a lot.

But, also because it just made me realize that I lack the musical fluency to be able to adequately describe the things I like about it, and that's part of the trouble I have with jazz in general.

Here, I know that the thing that makes me down with this is how in the pocket everyone is playing. As in, there's a groove underlying the entire performance, and everyone, even when they get noodly and do that jazz thing where it seems like the person playing in "front" isn't playing the same thing, they're still in that groove.

But it shouldn't take an entire paragraph to express that idea. I have the same trouble with prog rock and prog metal. They do stuff that's musically at the edges, and I just don't have the background knowledge to do more than just vibe with it, and it really feels like I would appreciate it all more if I had a musical bone in my body and could follow what they're doing on that level.

Anyway, I hope someone else enjoys this performance too :)
