Since losing his majority in the October 27 vote, Netanyahu and his allies have been pressing a serious accusation: the election was “stolen” by Arab parties through bribery, foreign funding and fraud. They are demanding investigations, arrests and, in the most extreme version, even canceling the vote and going to another round of elections.

They have yet to present any evidence, but the political goal is clear: to cast a veil of illegitimacy on the Joint List and Raam, the two Arab parties that saw record turnout and are likely to be a crucial part of any effort to oust Israel’s longest-serving leader.

Netanyahu did not lose the election outright, nor did he win it. The same is true for Eisenkot. Both fell short of the required 61-seat majority in the 120-seat parliament needed for a clear victory. Israel now faces weeks – perhaps months – of political uncertainty.

This is the world now. It's the 2nd grade.

"Losing sucks. I can't possibly lose. I can't conceive of a world in which I've lost. I can't work in a world where I've lost.

"I will contrive the world to my own advantage. I will kill, lie, destroy, steal, pillage, and salt the earth. I will make my loss as unbearable to everyone around me as I can until I'm handed a win.

"And then, when I've got what I want, I'll make everyone regret having conceived of going against me. Others' suffering secures my power."

This isn't a society. It's an abusive relationship with all the hallmarks of a hostage situation.

Democracy was conceived of in response to all of civilization being run by tyrants just as you describe. This behavior is not at all new, it's how autocrats think.

"Look, you people just aren't as smart as I am. Whatever I think is right, and the best thing to do. All the smart people agree with me.

So, it's best if we just do what I want.

I'm glad you understand it now, and that this is finally settled."

All these dipshits don't just have their office on the line.

Like Trump and Putin, Bibi isn't just running for office but running from prison.

They see what happened to Duterte, Jair Bolsanaro, etc.

I mean can you blame them? There is like an 80 percent chance no one will hold them accountable for their bullshit. They pretty much have nothing to lose and every thing to gain. The current US president spawned an insurrection and the country voted him back in....

Israel complaining about foreign funding in elections is pretty hilarious. That's like 80% of their foreign policy strategy.

So you're telling me one of the most capable surveillance states in the world couldn't prevent it's most thoroughly surveilled part of the population from somehow "stealing" the election?

    Yeah seems plausible

The only thing keeping him out of jail for the last decade is that he's PM...

Like, literally as soon as he's out of office his corruption trial starts and he is obviously fucking guilty. And as far as I know it's not even in luding how he solicited donations for Hamas and smuggled literal suitcases of cash to them....

He was fucked from just his previous crimes, no one has started looking into the shit he's done since, but they most likely will be the second a new coalition is formed.

Nah he'd use his own. I can't think of where he'd go, though, there's no good option given that they've made an enemy of most of the world. I guess the US is the best option, but it'd still be fleeing the country like Flavio Bolsonaro, and that would be a huge hit to his pride.

Like, literally as soon as he’s out of office his corruption trial starts

His corruption trials already started at 2020. He is using his status as PM to hinder them. Every time he has to testify he finds some classified state emergency he simply must personally deal with and excuses himself out of the courthouse.

The bad thing about Trump being successful after claiming the US elections were stolen is that he provided a template for other super-shitty world leaders to follow.

The good thing, though, is that Trump has also kind of ruined the concept. Trump is such an obvious clown that when he did it, the rest of the world mercilessly mocked America, making the same stuff less likely to succeed in other countries.

Exactly. He shown the world that you can basically tell the stupidest lies ever every fucking days and you won't get any consequence as long as medias are controlled by billionaires. "Children go to school and gets transitionned", "All Muslim are jihadist", "The left will create Stalin's style communism", etc.

France media are using the same playbook: "Student protests? Obviously the Muslim brothers".

They have caught a handful of voter issues (like 3 or 4 individuals voting more than once.) They were all republicans voting for Republicans. Our country has very nearly 350 million people. Est. ~178million voters. [Statisa.com] if 3 or 4 people do it out of 178 million, we are amazingly well behaved as an electoral body. Fuck Trump, and fuck all fascists who would have us believe it is raining while they piss on us.

The only real demonstrable voter fraud issue that has been widely recognized came from the president himself trying to "find votes" in Georgia and of course, topped that sundae with J6.

More relevant than ever: there are 4 lights.

Netanyahu, probably not. But I don't think Trump is capable of understanding the difference between lies and truth anymore, what with all the dementia. Not that he was too worried about it when he was 'functional'.

It should be a felony for a public official to cry that an election was stolen.

They can push in the courts all they want but they shouldn’t be allowed to stir up the people while the election is being processed. It makes everyone less safe and their free speech rights should be removed during this time.

Agree! It will never ever make sense to me that it can easily be proven in some cases that some rich asshole is knowingly lying in a harmful way and yet there's never any attempt at consequences for it. Meanwhile us normal people go to jail for practically nothing sometimes. People getting executed in the streets for suspected shoplifting, but Nazi cunts spread lies that kill people and it's fine.

This strategy has already been through a few election cycles, and it's time to end it. Whenever any MAGA starts whining about the election being stolen, don't debate him. Don't offer proof, don't ask for proof, don't point to lawsuits, etc. Just laugh in their faces, and humiliate them in every way possible. Just talk over them, calling them sore losers, sour grapes, big babies, etc. Then make sure to tell them that they got voted out because they are traitors, racists, pedophiles, stoopid, and LOSERS, and nobody wants that in our country. Say it loud, talking over anything they try to say, then walk away, leaving them seething.

Bully them relentlessly, they've earned it. They need to have a very bad, very unhappy two years.

... Shin Bet security service ...

I'm sorry, but "Shin Bet" is acronym for "shirut bitachon" which is Hebrew for "security service", making this a RAS syndrome.

  • Or maybe it's because not every Israeli supports genocide?

Wars can make a country rich, but they're also unpopular with the people.

Could even be more Zionism, they replace Netanyahu and a "softer" Israeli government urges Palestinians to relocate, whereas removal of them was always the plan.

While I fully believe they have every right to their ancestral home, maybe it would be better for them to leave that area. But then I'm reminded of Picard in Star Trek VIII: First Contact talking about backing down from the line as the Borg advance, and that THE LINE MUST BE DRAWN HEAH! I'm not joking though, if they accept a relocation, how long before Israel or someone else try to take what they have again? So maybe they should say "no, no more concessions"? It's not an easy choice.
