And those stats can't exclude students because school education in China is mandatory, so anybody under 18 is in school by definition.

I just can't with people like you. If school is mandatory for 18 and under, and those stats exclude students, then the remaining demographic out of the 15 to 24 yr olds are... drum roll... youths from 19 to 24!

Obviously, Canadian teens are doing child labour instead of doing literally anything else.

I don't think you understand what "part-time" means. It literally means working a job for less than full time, and can even be a single hour per week.

The point of a part-time job for youths is to give them an idea of what actually working is like. Giving them real responsibilities (with real consequences; good and bad), thereby helping them with personal growth. And giving them a sense of accomplishment (I earned this money).

I worked part-time during highschool, and I had more free time than I knew what to do with. My job was super easy and practically little was expected from me. I had zero need to work, but it's something that helped me appreciate the world around me better.

I have no idea where you're getting this child exploitation garbage from. It sounds a lot like some ingrained communist ideas about the evils of the West (admittedly, not all wrong).

For the record, my parents grew up during the Iron Curtain under Soviet oppression. I've heard all the stories and perspectives. You have some strange ideas.

Edit: spelling

Youth unemployment is at 18% in China (it was around 23% / 24% a couple years ago, which is what I was thinking original). And those stats exclude students. Also, I should have prefaced that I meant in large functioning economies.

I guess you think that them kids should be put to work as soon as they can walk

It's perfectly normal to get a part-time job when you're 16 or 17. Canada's youth unemployment rate is about 13%. Are you suggesting Canadian teens are being used for child labour? Do you think those stats are tracking the 60hr American work week for teens?

yesterday it was all, "You guys need to do something! You need to fix this! All of you Americans wanted this! You're ALL pedophile lovers!"

Today it's all, "It doesn't matter that you protested and organized and worked the polls and wrested control of your legislature and state governments back against overwhelming odds

The late Sir Patrick Stewart said it best "When America sneezes, the whole world catches a cold. And I think America is about to get a very bad flu."

You guys needed to do something in the same way the loud, annoying, drunkard neighbours need to put out that fire they lit on their front porch before the whole house catches fire and spreads to neighbouring houses.

You can absolutely not trust someone and still expect them to take responsibility for their actions.

Enjoy your socialized healthcare, because your tax dollars -- and mine -- are going toward it. We're helping to pay for your security so you can afford to spend on your healthcare. I want to turn that around.

Oh don't worry. The entire world have put plans in motion to cut out the US.

And I don't mean that sarcastically. Also, we really do enjoy our healthcare. Every time I show up at the doctor to get something looked at I don't get a bill. It's awesome.

Also the US isn't "funding" the security of other places. That's just a consequence of the US projecting hard power globally for capital interests. The impact of providing "security" for other nations is just a convenient side effect that's used for soft power.

For our own safety and credibility.

Do it for your own safety. The credibility bit is now a generational rebuild process. The world doesn't trust you guys anymore. The process to decouple from the US is already in motion and its not going to stop. The damage is done.

Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some input on my pepper plants. Last year all my vegetable plants were explosive in growth and produce. This year they've been a bit stressed by the early heat we've had (southern Ontario) but otherwise doing well. Everything from cucumbers, tomatoes, corn, potatoes, carrots, lettuce, garlic, and onions are doing well.

My pepper plants, on the other hand, look terrible.

Initially I thought they were just extremely stressed from the heat, but I noticed a few of them (not pictured) are doing fine. What clicked in my head today is that the ones that are doing ok I grew from seed, and the rest are from garden centres (a semi-private one and a commercial one).

From my zero-level knowledge and subsequent Googling the answer is:

    • Too much heat
    • Too much water
    • Too little water
    • Exposure to herbicide

It's the last one that really raised my eyebrows, and seems to fit based on photos.

Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks in advance.
