Good news everyone, a quarter-sized hole in the ISS would only exert about 10.5 pounds of force. Not nearly enough to do that

I despise how Hollywood shows depressurisation
except the expanse, where they throw a piece of plastic on the hole and all is fine(ish)
I believe they caulked a binder over one hole in the series.
They plug a tiny hole with mashed potatoes (temporarily) in Star Trek Enterprise.
first ep. it's quite clear that the air is continuously rushing out and not just one big blast then gone, they're holding their breath, people aren't being sucked into the hole, and just placing the binder over the hole noticeably restricts airflow before they apply sealant
I really need to watch that
Hollywood thinks that a plane losing pressure is just like the Byford Dolphin
That’s just Chuck Palahniuk with explosive decompression
Outer space once again ain’t got shit on the real delta p gansta: underwater .
sometimes I wonder why I bother coming to Lemmy
then i stumble upon high quality posts like this one and the informed discourse that follows and my faith is reassured.
I think I speak for all of us when I say please log off the internet forever.
I've always questioned the scene in "men behind the sun (also called black sun: 713) with the hypobaric chamber (iykyk). But thankfully just looked it up and it isn't real footage.
But I would not want to go like that.
I don’t see why it would be helpful to make a day last a whole year but I’m no scientist
This makes my brain wants to punch my eyes in the dick.
