Uh, well, my last.fm says I’ve listened to REM Losing My Religion nearly 1k times
I'm the type that it drives me crazy to hear the same song twice in a row, even my favorites. One song, then a different one, then back to the first is fine, but in a row stresses me out
That is perfectly normal.
I just recently started listening to Nothing Else Matters again. The cello version from the Wednesday soundtrack. Two years ago I listened to it over 300 times, according to Spotify.
It's not the songs I listen to. It's the ones that play in my head for weeks at a time.
The one song stands out from years and years ago is so it's really important in this sense is LOITUMA: IEVAN POLKKA.
But right now I have the Kpop Demon hunters album on repeat...
I know many people take this song as a joke but when the song became famous from the meme back then, I got into a rabbit whole and heard A LOT of Loituma but this song in particular was playing on loop for days Legit think it is a beautiful song in so many ways, love it
Aqua Regia by Sleep Token.
I've a playlist called shutupdammit that is just "shut up" and "dammit" by blink 182 to play on loop. It's always there for me when I need to take a drive and have a shouty temper tantrum for emotional regulation
Currently?
Gold Dust (Fox Stevenson remix) - DJ Fresh, Fox Stevenson
Not that I only listen to that one song, but I always come back to it at least once a day, often more.
Sonic 2 OST
The whole Interstellar score
Zero Wing OST
Quackshot OST
Shadow Dancer OST
Dune 2000 OST
I think that covers about 90% of my loops, I need something so I can concentrate that I know by heart. It keeps me from getting distracted.
Not a song, my current fixation has been the album Aquarius by Haken. It's grown on me a little.
Champagne Supernova by Oasis
Acc. to my scrobbler stats:
Highest this month:
Highest of the year:
Now, according to me:
Architects - Doomsday
Architects - Deep Fake
Bury Tomorrow - Abandon Us
Chaosbay - Willows By The Lake
Sylosis - A Sign Of Things To Come
Corelia - The Sound Of Glaciers Moving
no more regrets by almost monday
Free finga - vienas is the song I've had on repeat for about the last 28 days :3
A Winter Skirmish - Ori and the Will of the Wisps OST
I've only played it a few times, though.....
Checks play count
161 times played
Oh....
None of them. And I resent the constant insinuation on this website that every autistic person listens to songs on repeat. I have genres I listen to, but I'm always looking to add albums to the rotation.
If by listen on repeat you mean have stuck in my head for the past two weeks.
Streetlight Manifesto, one foot on the gas one foot in the grave
Not a song but an album, Lock Up - Violent Reprisal.
Ideal (for now) combination of structure and noise.
I just watched ep 5 of Bleach, the 1000 year last arc, now that ending song is on repeat 😭
I think ive listened to the whole Musical Transients album about 10 times this week
I'm well into the triple digits on this one: I Am - The Faceless
When I was a young'un I had tool's Aenima on repeat for about a year 24/7.
That whole album is just... Perfect.
For a while I got stuck on Buffalo Stance after seeing Neneh on Graham Norton.

Still haven't quite memorized all the lyrics enough to play the whole thing offline.
Lol, everyone's naming that "one song" and I'm so old I have at least 5 I can't go back to.
Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears - PTP
Watched the reacher series recently and that song popped up. Love me some tele twang
Not to oversimplify but I wonder if this could be an objective way to measure it (though perhaps hold off while Trump&Co. are in office for concentration camp reasons):
Pick your favorite song
Listen to it as many times as possible, record the count
272 would make me claw my ears out, but is completely comfortable to others.
Jean Michel Jarre's Equinoxe V, it's that sweet '70s analog melodic synth stuff I like.
Take Five by the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Quite literally a perfect song imo
One of the songs I've had on repeat lately is the Dave Brubeck-esque version of "Golden Brown."
Right now accoring to Musicolet
TOP Ten repeats but not my top for the last few weeks.
The one I've playing more and more on repeat lately is
Serenity by Godsmack and Its currently at 18.
Love Massive Attack. Mine is Paradise Circus, by them. Every note is so perfect it's like I can't even imagine how a person gets to creating a song like that.
For me, it's pretty rare that I come to like a remix better than the original song. But this is one example of that. I'm sure you know this but other people might not: the singer is Hope Sandoval from Mazzy Star.
Musicolet says Hush by Muse and Ellie Golding is at #1 with 71 plays. So far.
Its not normal?
My partner is as neurotypical as they come and they do this. It drives me nuts because the songs will echo in my head forever. So ymmv on this one.
Patience by Take That is the current favorite, though Dark Asylum by Kamalot is giving me funny looks
Chosen Anew from the Off Remake because I never knew Peppersteak could get any better

Beach Life In Death by Car Seat Headrest. Somehow I’ve been a fan for years and just discovered it a month or so ago.
I discovered "earth to eve" recently and love her "First generation degenerate" song ! But she has a few bangers !
I’ve listened to Bizarre Love Triangle so many times, but there are quite a few different mixes and cover versions.
USAGI note (2026) from Takeaki Watanabe https://tidal.com/track/559066302/u
So much emotion in this song that even after listening to is so much, I still find my eyes full of tears hearing this melody after a rough day.
That and the other Ace Combat soundtrack songs too, but this one is my favorite so far.
I have a SoundCloud playlist of soundclown stuff and other mashups that is specifically for listening to on repeat. not the whole playlist, each individual song.
sometimes the song lasts an hour or two, sometimes it's a few days in a row over multiple sessions. but it never gets played once.
Definitely this one: Kiss me in the dark - John Vaughan
It's on repeat in my office, in the car, anywhere I can listen to it repeatedly. Brain hasn't shown any signs of getting fed up with it yet. It's been about a month so far 👌
I've been obsessed with Ásgir. Specifically I've had his album In the silence, deluxe edition (on Qobuz) playing on repeat. It calms my soul. Makes me feel like I can face anything. His voice is beautiful and you can hear he loves old school grunge in his music. (Plus he covers heart shape box and a pixies song) here's one of my favourites. Never fails to give me goosebumps. https://youtu.be/nWCUdy2Af58.
never really did this but it was quite popular with many folks in my high school.
What a song.
I hope you're in a good place now, and if you're not, I hope you have the resources to be in a good place soon. ❤️
I don't normally, but I have been known to put Don't Ask Me Why by the Eurythmics on repeat one after breakup. 🙈
I extremely rarely only listen to one song, usually full albums or nothing. I must've listened to Aus-Rotten's The Rotten Agenda every morning on my way to work for a year. Every year or so I find an album and it blows my mind.
I think everyone should.be reminded how weird and new our media consumption is to humanity.
You know those memes about how a single nacho cheese dorito has more flavor than a medical peasant would have had in their whole life? Well, that meme is not really measurable and glosses over what those peasants actually ate. But what about everything else?
Nowadays almost everyone has some sort of streaming service with unfathomable quantities of music. Here is an article fron 2024 that can only report that Spotify has >100,000,000 songs, and they were adding an estimated 60,000 songs every day at that time. That means if every song was a really short 2 minutes long, you have 2,000 hours of music every 24 hours.
I remember the days when even pirating music was an endeavor. Back when it would take a couple of days to download an album, and my desktop only had 40GB of storage.
I remember the days when you had to go to a physical store and buy a CD to get music. Some enthusiasts had thousands of albums, but most people hae a small collection of a 10-100 of their favorites. People would.use the radio or MTV to get samples of new music to try.
But what about before the spread of music recording and playback devices? Just a few generations ago the idea of capturing sound from.one moment in time to re-create it repeatedly later would have been seen as witchcraft. The average medical peasant woulf have had religious music and folk music, but nowhere near the insane quantity and variety we have today. I think it will take several.generations for human brains and societies to fully adapt to this change.

GBV - Tin Can Laughter, from the "American Superdream Wow" box set.
A while ago, after a breakup, I've been listening to it a lot because the melody perfectly fits the atmosphere of one of the lovely places my ex and me used to frequent. Sitting by a strangely calm and dusty stretch of road in the midst of a huge metropolitan area that itself is neither calm, nor dusty.
I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics back then. They seemed kind of nonsensical. Only recently I discovered that they, in fact, perfectly describe the relationship we had, and the way my partner was.
When I was a teen I put on a song I liked on repeat and went to sleep to it. When I woke up, it sounded slighly different. Slightly off. It sucked because I really liked that song but my brain wasn't having it. It still feels off today, more than 2 decades later.

That episode hit hard
It depends. I'm old now and like with most older folks, my hearing just doesn't vibe with most new music today. Sure, I did play the same song on repeat as well when i was younger but
