I was trying so hard to figure out why these tweets look weird, thinking maybe they were just fake tweets... Turns out these are "threads" from Threads and that's why they look weird, but ngl, I genuinely did not know anyone used Threads.

I am surprised every time I get reminded that Threads exist. Yet I know therapist friends who get a ton of clients from posting on there.

I don’t believe in sending people to hospitals against their will unless they are an active danger to themselves or others. Tons of my clients are passively suicidal (complex trauma), and we just work on that in therapy. In my 6 years of therapy, I only had to call 911 once, and that’s because the client directly asked me to.

That's great, I have a transference kink. Want to chat with me wearing nothing but house slippers and a clown nose? C'mon, I can sense that you want to.

You kid, but I had someone get in touch with me through my contact form saying he has a fetish for therapist shoes and asking if I would be willing to sell my shoes to him. He was very polite about it.

Wait, you guys switch from 2 to 1? We switch from 3 to 2. Also on a different weekend, but I knew that already. This one is new to me.

There used to be a reason, for farmers to have more light in the morning.

That’s a myth. Farmers in the US lobbied against the change. Animals and crops don’t care about the time, so it just meant they had to start work earlier on the clock.

Why cant farmers just set their alarm an hour earlier though, no need to drag everyone else into this

Apparently this was a myth, but I’m against it, I voted in CA to pass a law where we don’t have to do it and yet we still do. No one wants day light savings time

No I want permanent daylight savings. I want to spring forward and not fall back.

Studies have shown more health benefits for more people sticking to Standard time, despite widespread resistance. Personally, I'm all for permanent Standard time, but I'll take DST if it is the only way to kill the switch.

I think we should have four clock switches per year.

In northern Europe an hour isn't enough to make a difference regarding daylight, the winter days get really short up here. Initially it's okay but then as the winter drags on you start to find that it's still dark in the mornings again so really we should have the clocks move forwards and back every three months.

Obviously that would be kind of unnecessary in the US outside of the Alaska.

I never understood this argument because farmers are the least likely job to use the clock to tell them when to work... The idea of a farmer waiting for 8am to clock in is ridiculous.

It's nothing to do with farmers. I don't know where people got that idea.

Farmers get up when it's daylight and you can see, what time it is isn't relevant. It's not like the animals know what daylight saving is so if they don't get fed when they expect it, they'll kick up a fuss.

It's got nothing to do with farmers. So whether or not farmers find daylight savings useful (I think the split is roughly 50/50) is irrelevant.

If you check farmers' out they can still do the same amount of work in daylight hours.

Daylight savings' history is actually more white than you think. The law was passed by politicians that just wanted to golf earlier. Farmers are commonly used as the excuse because every accusations is a confession.

Where is this that the clock goes from 2 to 1? Here in Europe it always goes from 3 to 2 or from 2 to 3 when it goes in the other direction.

It doesn't really. It goes from 2:59 (DT) to 2:00 (ST). But if a place says they close at 02:00, I suppose they could choose to interpret that time as the second one.

In the spring, it goes from 1:59 (ST) to 3:00 (DT)

Lol in Germany clubs have to get a special permit to allow the club to be open past 12 am on Halloween because November 1st you're not allowed to dance. Having a legal party that went after 12 am on Halloween was radical back when I was a teen

Nah, just on November 1st since it is a religious holiday.

There are a couple more no-dance holidays, November 1st is just the one that started to become most noticeable because of the emerging Halloween parties in the 2000s

It's heavily criticized and campaigned against. I mean no one will call the police if they see you dancing or throwing a private party at home (I think, though I don't know about rural areas). It's more for businesses and public screenings. It is absolutely outdated. My guess is that the federal lands will eventually abandon them, they just don't get around to do it.

There is some weird loophole in Baltimore that allowed bars to stay open all night on new years eve, and the first year I lived there I didn't know about it. Was very confused when I left the bar and the sun was coming up.

I don't understand. Every Halloween there is a weekend before or after (well almost) where we in the US get another hour to drink at a bar. I did it for 15 years straight. And that was 15 years ago.

I don't know how to lay it out any plainer than that.

It's a holiday where people are going out to party in a club where they, when they think the night is over because the club is closing at 2am instead, get told they have an additional hour to party because the clocks got rolled back 1 hr for Daylight Savings.

Sometimes, I feel like I'm talking to aliens.
