From personal anecdotal experience: chatting for hours would cost the company a few cents at most. In our company, developers are encouraged to try it out, and there are a few projects that use it a lot. The user with the highest cost has been using it in a loop, with minimal human intervention (and hence downtime), and it cost the company 2000 bucks for a month.

With “normal” use, even extensive, it’s very hard to go above 50 bucks.

I don’t know the company’s agreement with the provider - I’m guessing this is on top of a subscription cost - but either way if you want to make a real dent just chatting isn’t going to do it.

Yes OS errors can be vague, but no, you’re not going to just get “disk write error” for such disparate errors.

Do a search for “errno”, and specifically the POSIX error section. There are separate errors for “permission denied”, “device unavailable”, “bad file descriptor”, etc. Windows API calls have a whole host of their own error codes, plus functions to examine what’s going wrong specifically.

This is most likely caused by a higher layer in the code catching errors when it doesn’t know what to do with them, and then just showing a generic message.

One time I was riding to work, a group came from behind me and one of them started shouting “left left left”. We were just coming up to an intersection and I still don’t know what he meant: did he want to pass me on the left, did he mean to tell his group to turn left, or did he want me to go left?

Get a decent bell - not one of those little ting-ting ones that you can’t hear - and use it. A bell is always clear: someone wants to pass on the left (right in the UK).

I played the original Black Flag for the first time about two years before the remake came. I have been playing through all AC games in order (up to odyssey now).

At no point during my play through did I feel like the game needed a remake. Sure the graphics could be better on modern hardware, but they were beautiful as they were. The gameplay gripes that I had are all inherent to the AC franchise. There was, IMO, not nearly enough that could warrant a remake. And like I said this was my first time so it’s not nostalgia or rose tinted glasses.

AC1 on the other hand is lacking in a lot of areas - perhaps even too much for a remake, since it wouldn’t be “true to the original.”

My interpretation: “their name is Trevor” is grammatically correct, but semantically means their collective name is Trevor, not that they’re both called Trevor.

“Their names are Trevor” is incomplete because the subject implies a plural while the object is singular. This could work if you were to list multiple names: “their names are Trevor and Trevor.”
