Musk must be charged for treason.

Musk should be guillotined, but the US Constitution defines treason very spefically for a good reason. And this isn't that.

Did the US declare war on Russia this week? I didn't hear about that.

I mean.... Are you "at war" with every enemy all the time or can one have an enemy and not technically be in a state of war?

Well, the US is almost constantly at war. I didn't realize you guys also included everyone you're not currently bombing as enemies as well.

Though I guess the US use of Ukraine as a proxy is close enough . . .

Maybe this isn’t but that doesn’t mean Musk hasn’t committed, and shouldn’t be tried for, treason.

The point is, why is Russia supposedly the enemy of the US again?

Seems the US has lots of enemies, and the liberals and conservatives just disagree on who they should be at constant war with, not if they should be at war.

Really? I thought the point was “Musk must be charged for treason.”

Didn’t realize you conflated a whole different argument into that one sentence.

Maybe take your strawman into the fields with the rest of the scarecrows.

Hmmm, that would be spectacular, but mercifully quick.

Perhaps we could put them in a carbon fiber submersible and cycle it between the ocean floor and back until it delaminates. That way the evemt is still quick, but they’ll first endure hours of anticipation.

He has lived there since 1989 and has a US citizenship since 2002.

One can always obviously argue that it doesn't count and that he is South African because of his Father and because he was born there, and/or Canadian because his mother is Canadian, but in that case the telephone is a Scottish (Alexander Graham Bell), gramophone a Russian (Emile Berliner) and the zipper a Swedish (Gideon Sundback) invention - all made by US immigrants with citizenships.

I almost edited my comment to revise my position, and I was waiting for someone to call me out. I'm glad you did. Immigrants built the US (Canada too), and fully earnestly I believe it's what makes America great. I would be angry if someone questioned, say, Ilhan Omar's citizenship and patriotism because she was born elsewhere. I can't not hold that opinion simply because Musk is a piece of shit.

So without snark, I don't question his citizenship. I don't believe he holds the values I think make an "American" (or, uncomfortably, maybe he does…), but for better or for worse, a citizen he is.

The US is not perfect, but it was far better than it is now prior to 2016. The orange pedo set the country back 50+ years. Any progress made in my lifetime has been squandered, and I will never forgive either of those 2 for their roles in what they've done.

Ukraine's defense has been shown, at least in the past, to be crucially dependent on Starlink. So Putin is likely eager to make it as attractive as possible for Musk to turn that off.

Now, we can argue that having a single man-child idiot like Musk able to turn off things like this isn't a good idea - but currently that is the case.

But Russia isn't Israel. That the Mossad could force Musk to do anything they want doesn't mean, Putin can too.
I think, this time it's just Putin genuinely thinking that having his own Starlink would have made the Ukraine war so much easier - especially if his satellites would also have some electronic warfare equipment on board for jamming the real Starlink.

The article literally continues by saying that this “close contact” is primarily about avoiding LEO object collisions.

I’m sure these oligarchs are colluding on other shit, but it’s completely disingenuous to try to frame this particular comment as anything other than for operational purposes.

Why would two people as high ranking in their respective "companies" need to talk to discuss something as technical as avoiding LEO collisions? Like how much does either really know about their current constellation configuration? Those are operational level concerns, not CEO/Country Leader level conversations.

They would talk to coordinate who to talk to, but that would probably be the end. It can show respect when a CEO reaches out to another CEO to say hey we need to work together on this, who should my guy reach out to at your place. Maybe the occasional update.

Musk wanted to be Tony Stark. Somehow he ended up with Vladimir Putin in his fan club. The truly dystopian part isn’t the praise: it’s that one billionaire can turn critical communications infrastructure into his personal mood ring while governments keep treating him like a public utility with a podcast.

I think it would take a bit of effort to run a bot manually. Maybe someone whose native english isn't great so has the bot bot-write their ideas instead of translating them directly?

I'm heavily leaning towards bot or at least someone outsourcing all of their comments to AI. Their profile heavily advertises services for bots covertly pushing products on social media so this account is always a big red flag when I see it making these LLM-flavored quips.

This sends false flag vibes to me. Putin never spoke like this in the past. Or he's truly struggling and Elon is the last straw.

Anyhow providing starlink to russians could also mean they sap the communication. Locations are known anyway of the terminals.
