People against death penalty^1^ think the state shouldn't be given the right to murder people. That's it.

These people want the system to work, without the need of murdering anyone, let that be by the state or the people.

The very same people agreeing that a murder was beneficial for the system and the people doesn't contradict that. It's simply a symptom of the system being broken and the state not doing enough to fix it for the people.

The Dutch ATE their prime minister when they didn't like him anymore.

Microsoft should be happy they only went as far as breaking in. Could've ended much uglier. Say, with a jam and Nadella sandwich.

Why would you even have an SSH server running in a Docker container (unless the purpose of the container is being a jumpbox or similar)?

I can't emphasise it enough how much more secure you get when you use rootless, read-only containers that are limited to truly just the software you want to run and its dependencies.

Alpine is great for dev containers, but the final container should be:

    • immutable on the app layer (any executable path needs to be read only)
    • have only the absolutely necessary GNU tooling, service management, etc. included (for most software you don't even need these tools, and why would you give an attacker who gain access to your container, an easy way to e.g. scan your network?)
    • only the data mounted, rw only if absolutely necessary (e.g. if you host a Jellyfin server, just an example, you should have the mounted media be RO, and only the config and caches be writable, mounted noexec of course)

I'm not from the US.My whole fucking point is that a SINGLE country, no matter how influential it is, switching to a slightly less fascistic leadership is nowhere near "huzzah we saved the world" level change, and thinking so highly of yourself (in this case, on the level of a whole nation) is absolutely narcissistic.

Besides, we've seen what the Dems really do 99% of the time, especially without a charismatic leader who brings cohesion. Aside from a select few new faces, most of the old guard will now just sit back and do nothing. I mean, Hakeem Jefferies already announced they won't seek "to get even" (meaning they won't even try to prosecute obvious criminal activities in the government), nor will they attempt to impeach Trump...

Not sure what to think of this. On one hand I hate that Gero, Mallozzi and the old gang got done dirty when they were literally weeks away from beginning production... Without them, I have serious doubts about anything new preserving the legacy, the spirit of the franchise we love. On the other hand, Jac Schaeffer has proven to be a solid choice for delivering good shows. Both WandaVision and Agatha All Along were well executed, respectful of the origin material, and brought solid characters, character growth. I guess it just feels like your favourite restaurant shutting down, then someone buying the place and reopening with a new crew. No matter how good a kitchen crew the new place has... it will never be the same. I think the same of Stargate without Martin and Joe.

Not sure if this is the right spot to ask questions, as the sub info says nothing about them, but hopefully this is still considered relevant.

I am about to travel to my home country, Hungary, in a few weeks. Haven't been back in years, and there's one thing I really miss: horse sausage. This is a somewhat traditional dry sausage (closer to a salami really), made of 100% horse meat, from horses reared specifically this purpose.

Horse meat is not listed on any of the banned lists, and most articles related to the topic on gov.uk do specify that horses are NOT susceptible to FMD.

However most of the info related to the ban does begin with "you're not allowed to import meat and dairy products" before specifying the banned species list - again, horse meat is NOT included on these lists.

Overall the bans are quite confusingly worded and aren't straightforward.

There's also mention of commercial documents needed - but only for non-human-consumption meat products (e.g. dog food).

So my question is, ultimately, can I bring 3-4kg of this sausage into the country, and if yes, what paperwork would I need? Most EU certifications are out of the question as these sausages are made by small local farms who don't really label or package the products much since it's not meant for export. Some more commercial options do have the label, but only in Hungarian.

I have sent a message to gov.uk with the relevant page linked however I'm yet to hear back and given I'm about to travel... I'd like to have some definitive answers before I get some £50-60 worth of meat confiscated at the airport.

New Stargate show just got greenlit by Amazon.

Doesn't seem to be a reboot, doesn't seem to be screwing much with continuity, and all the big behind the scenes names from SG1/Atlantis/SGU are onboard: Brad Wright, Martin Gero, Joe Mallozzi. Furthermore the Devlin-Emmerich duo is also signed up as executive producers!
