Legal institutions can jail people for life, but vigilantes can't. Kidnapping a CEO and ethically keeping him alive in a private blacksite for life (food, entertainment, medical care (ironically)) is cost prohibitive and also much harder to pull off.

I don't know if you're joking, but the Supreme Court are fucking assholes and always have been, because they're people, and people all suck at the end of the day.

Classic example: Ruth Bader Ginsburg originally made a name for herself establishing gender equality in the Supreme Court by bringing a case of discrimination against white men.

If you ever get into a trouble with the cops, always be polite as possible, because if you're rude, judge and jury will fuck you over out of spite even if your rights have been clearly violated.

So yes, if you want to build case law holding cops accountable for their action, start with black cops violating the rights of white citizens, and if you want to overturn Citizens United, try a muslim.

The Supreme Court goes outside the strict text of the Consitution all the time... Saying, "I don't like how the Supreme Court is voting, so I'm going to appoint as many Justices as I want until I get my way" is a pretty clear violation of powers.

But y'all can believe in unicorns and chocolate trees or whatever the fuck makes you feel better. I'm out.

FIRST, a "majority of the principle officers" of the cabinet have to assert the President is, indeed unable, THEN they need 2/3 in the Senate and House.

    25thing requires:

    • Majority of the cabinet
    • Supermajority of the House
    • Supermajority of the Senate

    Whereas as impeachmeant requires:

    • Majority of the House
    • Supermajority of the Senate

Reading the web and watching the YouTube's yields a plethora of little attention hacks that apparently really help people with their ADHD, but leave me feeling completely alienated because absolutely none of them work for me. In fact, I just don't even implement them, just sort of eye them suspisciously from a distance.

It feels a little reminscent of the advice I'd get for depression in that the bulk of advice seems targetted towards people with less severe forms, and both writers and readers can say, "Wow! Thanks! This really worked for me!"

The feeling that I had earlier that, "OK, now I have a diagnosis, I can start treating the problem" is evaporating away I'm left with a despair that comes from having a version of ADHD that is seemingly not treatable and not work-aroundable and is actually and irrevocably debilitating.

Getting an eval in a week

Edit: If anyone has resources for severe ADHD instead of this Stephen Covery organizational bullshit, please drop it in the comments.

My old mechanic, a four-bay garage, always had time for emergencies--usually no more than a day or two. I get the feeling that they left a few slots open every day for emergencies.

Since I moved, the new place I go to not only has a week lead time for emergency repairs, they actually take a week off for Christmas. It's like they don't actually care that their customers depend on their cars. and just fill up every slot they have as soon as they can, regardless of urgency.

Is always having time available for emergencies a usual practice or an unusual one?

Harrison Ford is usually looks like he does not want to be in the movie, no matter what movie it is. It makes me feel badly for him, like, honestly, bro, if you hate acting this much, just, like, stop. You've got enough money.

In some rare instances, it works for the character--Blade Runner, Force Awakens.

The times where he does seem to be enjoying himself, he is fun to watch (Solo, Jones), but for most of his action star runs (Witness, Patriot Games, the one where he's president on a plane), he is just entirely miserable.

Harrison Ford is almost unique here. The only other time I remember an actor palpably not wanting to be there was Halle Berry's Storm in the first X-Men.

    What's the appeal?

I decided to ditch the cable connection and drive my internet through my cellphone. It sort of works, but it makes me a piece of shit because I can't seed (slow uplink, minimal storage, battery drain).

Enter seedboxes, where I can ul a little better and store a little more.

Most of the guides are written by seedboxes themselves so I thought I'd turn to the community for the nitty-gritty. Questions:

    1. How do I protect my anonymity from the seedbox company if I'm paying them?
    2. Do seedboxes protect their own anonymity or do I need to also hook up a VPN to the seedbox?
    3. Recommendations for cheap seedboxes with minimal storage? I'm really only an occassional d/l'er and already have quite a backlog, so I doubt I'd be moving more than 40gigs/month. \

    Thanks!

*The dedicated seedbox forum is pretty darn dead.

I live in the US and we've got elections coming up. Every day for the past several months, I get 3-8 text messages from political campaigns per day. I block them every time, yet they keep coming in.

My question is NOT how to stop them, but what happens to those numbers that I, and surely hundreds and maybe thousands of other people have blocked? What if an actual person gets that phone number and needs to call people? What happens then?

Because on a long enough time line, all numbers will have been used for spam.

    Subclinical AuDHD (sh.itjust.works)

I was kind of excited to learn that AuDHD was a thing, because I've failed both the autism test and the ADHD test, but the reality is that it is not a thing. The only thing that changed was you can be both fully autistic spectrum and fully ADHD. There's no official hybrid category to straddle the two.

It's a bummer for me because I think AuDHD perfectly explains everything that is horribly wrong in my life, mostly around work: I don't get along with coworkers, so I never get promoted and often I get fired. I see a problem, I point it out. I'm honest even during job interviews, which are very stressful.

On the attention side, I don't really do well with repetitive tasks. If I can listen to podcasts all day, I'm OK, but if it's just staring at a counter waiting for customers to come in, that's pretty hellish. I also don't have much in the way of special interests. Every once in a while, the fever will take me and I'll learn programming or kayak-building or instrument-making or instrument-playing or languages, but the drive to really crank that is more typical of autism is lacking, so when I'm faced with long periods of time, I do very little (averaging 30 comments/day for the last 5 months!). And during that long period, I sometimes pick up career books about "finding your passion," but I mostly put them down pretty quickly.

I've been unemployed for 3 months. I'm afraid to apply for jobs, not just because of the rejection, but because I'll be getting back on this treadmill of unbearable jobs where I will eventually fail, will make no friends, will garner no references.

I hate going to the mental healthcare system, which has done absolutely nothing to resolve or even acknowledge the root cause or even the root problem. I've been called very intelligent and promising and capable. I've also been saddled with harmful diagnoses like bipolar and put on meds which make me lose what little contact I have with my emotional world.

Just to put this into context: I'm over 50 years old and this is the same exact problem I had in high school and college and ever since, just a real inability to figure out what I want to do, even in my own spare time. And it's the source of everything else. I need to work to live, and if working is difficult, it is obviously hard to live, and that will obviously have an impact on my mood. "Great," says the useless mental health system, "mood is something we can easily diagnose and medicate!"

Yet, if that is the core problem, there really isn't any treatment for it, but at least a diagnosis would open up some benefits (and maybe a free train ride to a Kennedy-run camp in the future), but that is probably beyond my reach.

    1. Why does everyone drive 10-15 miles above the speed limit?

    2. Why don't we raise the speed limit if that's how fast everyone wants to go?

    3. Why is traffic enforcement given to very expensive and ineffective police instead of cheaper and more automated traffic cameras?

    4. Why do we refuse to ever use ANY traffic calming measures? Yes, than you flashing digital sign for telling me I'm going 10 miles above the limit on this incredibly wide and straight and flat road with high curbs and perfect visibility.

It's a serious confusion I have about how society is supposed to operate because it seems like a complete and total breakdown of logic and sense.

And, yes, I know there's some thing people did long ago to set the speed limit at some percentile of what people were already traveling at, but that's obviously a stupid way to do it and we did it anyway. So why?

So I've been thinking about how unhinged I've been over the past several months around employment and society, and I'm wondering if I'm having a trauma reaction from all the bad times I've had with employment.

I've been fired from I'd say half the jobs I've ever had. In my chosen field and trained field, I have never once had a job I looked forward to going to. My last job experience was really, really, horrible, despite having an advanced degree and a language skill, I was kept making coffee because I didn't cajole and get along with the power structure and made the mistake of publically criticizing.

It's hard for me to even write about without getting upset, yet, if I want to make a living, I have to keep applying to these jobs for which I keep bombing the interview, for which, if I ever get the job, I will probably have to deal with unethical egotistical backstabbing morons every day until I get fired or rage quit (like the last job).

In the meantime, I can't go to therapy, because therapy is the field I'm in and I'd estimate the percentage of therapists who can actually talk to me without immediately getting defensive is about 1%, which throws me back to the Daniel Mackler quote, "It is easier to become a good therapist than to find one," which leads me here because I'm wondering what:

    a) experiences y'all have had for autistic burnout and
    b) anything you tried to help you through it and
    c) any resources you'd find helpful.

I also think that I'm sour on employment specifically because it is basically the ony time I'm forced to interact with people on a regular basis, which makes me think autism might be the key to this current trauma. I've tried socializing in meetups and other venues, and it always fizzled, but it never ends horribly the way work does.

Going back to reply to a message in my inbox (all), I find that I go from a message from 20 hours ago to a message from 10 days ago, even though I've been an active daily user in that period.

What do you think's going on there?

I mostly run on Voyager but confirmed the issue via web.

Edit: The gap is a little fuzzy on the borders, just now it was 22 hours to 9 days ago. I think it got down to 5 days ago earlier this morning.
