Honest question: apart from Tuxedo hardware support, what would be the reason to use Tuxedo OS specifically? There are plenty of beginner frientdly distributions out there. I liked Tuxedo quite well, but it's basically a pretty Kubuntu with specific hardware support.

I wholeheartedly agree that EVs should not be built as tanks. I just think that it's a bit lazy to rehash 50s or 80s design in order to make a car interesting. I know, in those times they were not designed in a wind tunnel, but c'mon.

I have friends who drive an EV built by Dacia. It looks ugly, as all Dacias do, but at least it looks like a car from the 2020s. Or at least the 2010s...

BTW, I am not dissing ugly cars. I drive a Korean car, so I do not care much for looks anyway. :-P

It is a good thing that EU car makers are developing new models, but why do they have to be 'inspired' by decades old models in terms of looks?

As a burnt out developer hunting fol a new job, I should probably not have read it, but it is is actually a very good article. It is bleak, but honest.

Here's a thought: clean the surfaces with some diluted white vinegar and heat the oven once more. The vinegar will not smell nice either, but it may clean up any residues that may cause the smell.

What brand did you buy if I may ask? I bought a new oven 2-ish years ago. The smell was there, but it was not particularly bad and the problem sorted itself quite quickly.

Many years ago, I wrote a Laravel app that helps me track my workouts. Many commercial services did not (and still do not) allow me to enter some information that I consider relevant, so when I switched to a job that required some Laravel knowledge, I wrote this logging app that allows me to import Strava workouts and add my own stuff to them.

Last weekend I switched Linux distributions on my main laptop (Tuxedo OS to Fedora - huge improvement). One last job that I still needed to do, was to migrate my web app.

On Tuxedo OS, I had simply installed Apache, MariaDB and PHP. This time, I wanted to containerize the app in order to reduce the number of running services.

I had some trouble with SELinux. The containers started fine, but refused to read my configuration files. I also had some trouble with Podman not playing nice with my compose.yaml file, so for now, I simply use Docker.

To my mild suprise, the container feels snappier than my previous setup.

It sat on the bottom of the balcony door. As it was MDF, is was warped, dirty and possibly quite moldy due to our humid climate.

I replaced it with a piece of hardwoord. As my electric saw broke last year and I have not replaced it yet, I had to use the old handsaw and that went quite fast too.

I gave the new baseboard a layer of primer and a layer of white paint.

It fit snugly in the gap below the balcony door and the screw holes were perfectly measured and placed. Installing it took all of two minutes.

Two baseboards on a stand. On the left, the old one can be seen. It is warped and dirty. On the right, its freshly painted replacement is drying.
