While speaking on the final night of the GOP midterm convention, Vice President JD Vance said the country was “poorer” and “dirtier” before President Donald Trump was reelected for a second term.

“We were tired of being called racists for noticing that our country was becoming dirtier and poorer, and less safe and less prosperous,” Vance said on the final day of the two-day convention in Dallas, Texas.

His sentiment appeared to reflect the administration’s efforts to combat rising immigration rates in the U.S., a key campaign point during the 2024 election. Vance himself promoted unsubstantiated claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, in September 2024, spreading misinformation about the community abducting and eating pets.

This is so funny because to the people he's pandering to, his children are the dirt in this country.

She must be a monster, she married JD Vance.

A few days ago Vance also got really riled up when discussing this kinda stuff. He said something about El Sayed not being the kinda person his hick granpappy would approve of and El Sayed shot back asking if the hick granpappy would approve of his wife. It really set him off, going on about how El Sayed shouldn't bring Vance's family into this. It was kinda funny to watch him squirm.

JD Vance is nothing. He's not evil or stupid or whatever like the other MAGA people. He' just a guy that nobody likes.

He does that a lot. He tries to sneak in some "veiled' attack or remark and when people call him out for it he says they're attacking him or his family. He's a pathetic little man that thinks is somehow smarter than everyone else.

He’s a grifter. James is an ivy leaguer who makes hay about his single mother and “hillbilly roots” while wears eyeliner and pretends to be a tough guy.

Monster for staying married after already having kids or monster for marrying? The Vance of the early-mid 2010s was very different before the Thiel money kicked in. He compared Trump to Hitler.

He was very easily bought though.

It’s baffling to me that he is in an interracial marriage and is… Fine?

Usha Vance is a very pale skinned, high caste (Brahmin), wealthy migrant who was set up with JD Vance by Yale Law kingmaker Amy Chua.

This was a political marriage in the feudal sense. Vance is married in order to secure a social tie to Indian power brokers, as part of a generations-long effort by American elites to encircle Asia and control their domestic politics.

Same reason why Mitch McConnell married Tiawanese shipping magnet Elaine Chao.

  • I think exceptions and tokens play an important role in permitting the followers of fascists to deny the general principles of the people they follow, even in their own minds. For example, if Vance's wife is brown, then Trump can't hate all brown people, right? Then he must be rounding up those other brown people for some reason other than their being brown. The news keeps saying they're rounding up criminals, many of whom happen to be brown, and the Left keeps screeching that Republicans hate all brown people, but his wife is brown... so the Left must be lying. The evidence to the contrary is right in front of your eyes.

And so on. Tokens are kept around by Republicans because they provide the thinnest possible veneer of plausible deniability to people who are afraid of non-whites but don't want to think of themselves as racists. It's a convenient off-ramp from a road that would otherwise tempt them to think difficult thoughts about themselves and the policies they approve of or at least willfully ignore.

Indian people tend to be considered white in a lot of American spaces. May have to do with the amount of Indian immigrants that are higher caste/lighter skinned. They tend to be super racist towards black people and darker Asians

Don’t know why you’re downvoted like that, casteism/colorism is well-known within the Indian community. The Brahmins and White nationalists are like-minded in that sense, although the White nationalists still see themselves as superior.

They are religiofascist to a degree and demonize Muslims and enforce the “superiority” of Hinduism. There are definitely some mirrors to what has happened in their government versus ours.

I mean, some Indians have a fetish for Hitler, rooted in stupid legends about Aryanism. The pick-me-ism is insane.

I think the down votes are probably because I've never encountered a space where Indians are considered white, maybe in Silicon Valley? I hear more racist jokes about Indians than any other ethnic group in the Southeast US, though I hear more racist comments about black people and Hispanics.

Maybe it's because I'm from a weird Californian region but I fell like Indians are generally pumped into the "dirty Asians" category regardless of caste or skin tone. But also I've seen really racist assholes defend the local Sikhs in particular so maybe my region is just weird.

Fascism has taken on a new form when it comes to race. I think people focus too heavily on the historical examples of fascism in an attempt to "reason" it as an ideology.

The racial structures of fascism are there to uphold white supremacy, patriarchy, and class. The contradiction is useful for the fascist. It is not a flaw or something that will cause conflict to other fascist. JD vance's wife being Indian is seen as "useful". Nothing more. That's primarily how fascism operates. It's why the definition of "Aryan" changed throughout place and time under Nazi rule. It's the reason why who is considered "White" didn't even include Germans when Benjamin Franklin used was using the term.

"If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that's what I'm going to do."

JD Vance on why it's ok to lie about immigrants if it makes his base like him more. There is no comeuppance great enough for what they're doing, and he knows it. A lot of the base may be too brainwashed, but he can see that he is ruining the country and he not only doesn't care but is reveling in it.

This isn't why they were called racists. They were called racists for claiming that Barack Obama wasn't American, for trying to build a wall to keep out Central and South Americans, and for banning immigration from countries where most people are Muslim.

American workers have been getting poorer since the 1970s.

Every President, bOtH pArTiEs, American workers are poorer.

Poland now has better benefits for their people, with benefits that most Americans will never see (and they're paid almost as much, with less taxation, on a smaller budget).

Family leave (41 weeks!). Vacation time (20 days!!!). Universal healthcare. Sick leave. "Occasional" leave, for the love of God. Sounds nice.

I guess their labor party can do so much more with so much less, for some reason.

It's not that surprising. Language has been doing it for ages, probably forever.

A "bleeding heart", mocking someone who is too empathetic. A goody-two-shoes. Terms have always been made for people that "indulge" too much into something regardless of whether it's the polar extremes of acquiring money or donating it.

You said it's not that surprising.

Do you understand the difference in our 2 opinions?

Mine is a personal opinion, while you arrogantly tell me I'm wrong to express my personal experience.

Think about that for a second while you reread our 2 comments.

You said "It's not surprising." As a statement of fact. As you wrote it, it offers no leeway for an argument or an opinion and that means you are saying I'm wrong.

The way I see it... in my mind... I don't think...I think that... You didn't say these any countless ways to allow for my opinion to be anything other than wrong.

You chose words that didn't allow for any other opinions in direct response to me clearly stating an experience i am currently having and have held for decades.

That's pretty rude. Unintentional or not, that's what you did with your word choice, or lack there of.

This is text, you have the responsibility to clearly say what you mean. You chose not to

"It's not that surprising." is what I wrote. It's the very first sentence.

Not that surprising. A relative phrasing requiring the first measure to be a benchmark, e.g. "yeah, it's kinda sad but not that sad."

So hung up on what I "said" when it seems like you misread and misinterpreted it.

"It's not that surprising" and then I gave examples of how you could reframe "social justice warrior" into the long history of people mocking well-meaning people who were viewed as excessive...

He's repeating the same shit that Tucker was saying - Tucker was saying if he or other dumbasses turned fascist, it's because the liberals made them do it.

It's just more DARVO and Murc's Law bullshit.

When Republicans behave badly, it's someone else's fault. If they get even worse, it's because some liberal told them they were behaving badly or called them an appropriate name (racist, fascist, etc.).

They remind me of dogs after you give them a bath when they have gotten really stinky (rolled in something dead, for instance) - right after their bath, they'll run all around, desperate in an attempt to get all dirty again. Republicans are the same way after someone has reprimanded them - they run all around and try to find some shit to roll in.

If it's poorer and dirtier, that's on the majority whites who are overwhelmingly in charge of shit. The quality of the white people has gone down because you don't even have to pretend to be qualified for leadership anymore. Just coast through ivy league or whatever, get in business or politics by nepotism, and then you get to abuse your power indefinitely while you blame minorities for all the problems you ignore while grifting.
