Could be something like a YMCA which I personally prefer over a Planet Fitness when I do have a gym membership. One example of my preference for it is because mentally I can't do treadmills when running and some places I have lived before haven't bean great for running outside. Most YMCAs have an indoor track that you can run on even if it is tiny, and there are usually multiple options across town. Not many other gyms in my area with indoor tracks.

That's a really dumb example. The OP could be a swimmer in which case a more expensive YMCA membership makes even more sense then. Just as another example.

I'm not OP but FWIW as someone who hasn't necessarily had the most pleasant life and is ND I can try and add a little more context as to why that might not be comforting. Especially for someone that may be neurodivergent.

In short platitudes like that are basically just a secular statement of "thoughts and prayers". It often seems like it is more for the speakers benefit so that that they don't have to actually engage with the lived reality of the person they are talking to. I can't speak for all neurodivergent people, but my mind works based on probabilities and evidence.

When someone says to me that they know I'll find success after I open up about something that I have been struggling with for ten or twenty years, my immediate response (if I decide to ignore the social script) is to interrogate that statement. Where will I find success? When? Who do I need to talk to? Obviously they don't actually know and telling me that is ultimately being dismissive of my experience. If they have genuine help they can offer there is rarely nothing more that I want, but it's even more rare that anyone actually has either the ability or the willingness to help. In that situation I just want them to recognize and acknowledge my existence and to sit with and share that discomfort.

TL;DR If you can't actually help, just witness them.

I could see a scenario where if we get to a point where a super majority of vehicles on the roadways are electric then the fuel tax is shifted over to a tax on electricity which does address some of the usage issues with a registration based tax. It also helps with location of usage a little more too since just because the vehicle was registered in one state doesn't mean it was used the most in that state.

I'm well aware we have the technology to determine exactly where and how much every vehicle is being used, but I'm not terribly interested in giving many, if any, of the current governments of the world that ability.

Which is the thing people don't get about higher registration fees on electric vehicles and why they may be necessary (sort of). Tax on fuel paid at the pump funds roads, but since EVs aren't buying fuel and weigh as much or more they should probably pay something towards road maintenance. Assuming keep the current funding model, which I'm not convinced is the best model.

I'm fairly pro EV and most taxes like fuel tax have always felt a little regressive even if I'm able to pay for it just fine. I don't know what the actual answer is, but it does seem like the short fall could likely be generated by better taxing wealthy corporations and improving public transportation.

Even if we pretend that is true, the statement you are responding to is about statistics that predate Biden... by decades. Violent crime has been going down since the 90s. On average people are probably safer today than they were fifty or even thirty years ago.

    Ooh, sounds spicy.

The hard set limit of #500-#999 is really frustrating when you also have to be careful not to overwrite certain kinds of "standard" program variables that your shop or company has decided on. I'm generally pretty OK with the limitations of these controllers and G-Code in general, but I would fucking kill to be able to use an array or to be able to declare a variable 😭.

Pretty much what the title implies. I enjoy the feature itself and find it useful for browsing and discovering applications on F-Droid that I didn't know existed, but there are certain categories of applications that I have no use for and would find it easier to filter them out rather than ignore.
