A few here and there, but nothing like before were orangy was leading a nationwide charge on it
Copy pasting from another thread very similar to this one,
Welcome! I typically say that the Threadiverse (a decent all encompassing term to mean "reddit format" e.g. link aggregator type social media that includes Piefed, bin, Lemmy etc.) is about where reddit was 10-15 years ago.
I recommend lemmyverse.com for comm discovery, sometimes your might be looking for a comm that does exist, but for whatever reason your instance just hasn't picked up on it (typically someone from your instance has to manually go to a new comm and sub to it if your instance missed the automated bot federation from Lemmy-federate.com
We’re not without our cons though, biggest problem we have are probably the Tankies, but here they’re mostly on what's known as the Tankie Triad: lemmy.ml, lemmygrad and hexbear. For the most part, grad and hex are widely defederated from (Users and content of those instances won't be "synced" and you won't see them) and you only have to worry about .ml, but on Lemmy you can do a personal instance wide block if you’d rather just not deal with them. .ml tends to be more subtle opting for censorship of dissent before things get crazy on their threads and allowing certain propaganda to flourish (If you wish to see documentation of it, checkout !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works ) or the megathread here (is .ml centric specifically) Here on Lemmy all moderator actions are public and available for viewing on what's known as the "modlog".
LMAO, atp you are no longer engaging in good faith, goodbye!
First, you should read the actual definition of fear mongering. Fear mongering "is the act of exploiting feelings of fear by using exaggerated rumors of impending danger, usually for personal gain." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fearmongering
Warning others with documented evidence of authoritarian propaganda is not fear mongering
justify pre-emptively trying to exclude an entire category of people you lump in your head as "tankies"? How am I supposed to evaluate the entire fediverse based upon your personal feelings about the anecdotes you have had that involved the fediverse?
Second, Tankies are defined as "authoritarian communists, especially those who support or defend acts of repression by such regimes, their allies, or deny the occurrence of the events thereof." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tankie
I don't lump together the entire Fediverse as tankie, I always explicitly say only a section of it users are and then properly warn if specific servers as well as .mls documented propaganda pushing and censorship of users who call them out on it. It is up to the user to decide what they want to do after. It's better to warn them and then encounter a tankie rather than have them encounter one without any context, they very well could and have walked away from the Fediverse because of it and then they go off to wherever and when someone asks about Lemmy/Threadiverse they incredibly likely to be the ones saying "That place is a a tankie hell hole"
Tankies are also typically the ones yelling at "libs" to "go back to reddit" whenever encountering pushback against their propaganda.
Third, your posted study has nothing to do with Tankies, just the inner working of moderation, defederations, labels etc. and how they're perceived by the average user. And again, you seem to like to use the term "fear mongering" to mean "Don't talk about them, don't tell anyone about them, just let them push their propaganda"
Says the one who needed to instantly go to lobbing insults and whataboutisms lmao
Btw, Tankies are a problem for adoption, on numerous occasions I have personally witnessed and others have witnessed as well that when the topic of Lemmy came up on MSSM such as Reddit the question of "Lemmy? Isn't that just a place full of Tankies" always seems to come up. There needs to be quantifiable visible pushback against Tankie and right wing authoritarianism.

"Fear mongering" Tankies, despite the fact that they're literally authoritarians. The lemmy ml admins and other prominent .ml tankies have been documented to post Russian propaganda esp on the Ukraine war (Russia is the good guy, totally justified) to China genocide denialism to "NK is actually not a brutal dictatorship, it's just western lies!" To everything in between
Ohhhh THATS what's been off with it LMAO
I'd suggest you back them all up, CDs don't last forever, they are susceptible to "rot", especially if the manufacturer cheaped out or self burned ones
He was pro Palestine, literally a few months after visiting Israel he was cheering the UN vote to recognize Palestine as a nonmember state "finally a first step towards Palestinian independence"
He definitely embodied starfleet ideals on and off the screen, he was genuinely a good person
He's been here awhile, they're definitely a tankie. Some of them like to poke at the "liberals" more often than others, they're probably at the upper end of that range, similar to braininabox, jankforlife etc.
