Lucky, nobody trick or treats at my neighborhood. I set up bowl with cool flickering lantern lights and decorations, and not a single trick or treater came by :( I only know because I had a doorbell camera set up and all I saw was a group of kids who were presumably walking back home from the other neighborhoods, and they were all just laughing at the music I had playing on loop (spooky scary skeletons) and man, it hurt me so much that I never celebrated since.

I was told they all do Trunk or Treating or go to the rich neighborhoods nowadays. It really is depressing Halloween isn't as big as when I grew up. I dont understand it. As a kid we'd go to every neighborhood to maximize our candy profits. I just miss it :(

Because it makes people think about their mother having sex with a stranger, and that thought is somehow worse than imagining her with your father. It's just one of those stupid things the human brain gets hung up on even if it's natural and not weird if in different contexts. Isn't the human brain fun?

Maybe I'm just sleep deprived, cynical, or thinking too deep into it, but I don't even like how they are using the words "on-prem" throughout the article instead of simply saying they're running local LLMs. Seems like such a weird choice of wording that is meant to subtly steer less informed people away from looking into alternatives to the subscription based LLM services, as most casual people wont associate it as the same thing and ignore it and move on. Even if that's the correct terminology for that specific field, I feel like most people would just naturally say "Yes, we are running the LLM servers locally here" as that's the only way I've ever heard people say it even online.

Typical tiktok brain user freaking out over something they could have easily researched and would see that the chemical naturally occurs in many foods that's been browned by frying or baking. Nope. Lets make a crappy 720p vertical aspect ratio video of me pointing a shaky camera at a bag of chips while fear mongering over something that's seen in even trace amounts in a wide variety of cooked foods, good luck trying to avoid that LOL

It's only at very high doses tested on lab mice that were shown as potentially dangerous. The amounts here are negligible and potato chips are like the most common thing this label is seen on. The California law sets a super low threshold for what is safe and lots of chemicals are treated this way under that law, so this is really nothing new. I figured most people knew all this already after they've seen their first "spooky scary cancer warning" label years ago. Plus if he doesn't trust the US government (not that I would for other reasons), then why are you trusting them on their word on everything else then? Sorry but that's just stupid lol

Quick edit: A few mins after posting I realized that all came off like a mean rant, I'm sorry. I am not doing well coping with all the bad things happening and have been struggling mentally with it all. I'm not directing this at OP or all the homies here on the fediverse, I am just tired of these lazy videos that are made by people just hoping to hit the front page on their lame algorithm with fake outrage.

Dude this is a curse that I dont wish this on anyone. It's like the mental equivalent of someone wishing you stubbed your toe every morning, or wishing all your shirts have those annoying tags in the collar that can't be removed. It's just torture.

When installing MegaSync for the first time, I used this command from their website in order to install it: wget https://mega.nz/linux/repo/Arch_Extra/x86_64/megasync-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst && sudo pacman -U "$PWD/megasync-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst"

And no, even using -Sy didn't work. I guess me being an idiot and not understanding how Linux works or why it functions like this, I can no longer install anything with pacman as it complains about a repo database file for "Arch_Extra" being missing now :(

Looking at the command, I assumed the download would temporarily switch to that repo that was necessary to download the program, not completely alter how my pacman works though...

I'm not sure why MegaSync would just override everything and ruin my pacman like this.

Hi guys, I was gifted a free iMac (Intel core 2 duo) from a retired nasa engineer in his 90s (he even worked on the atom bomb!) and I was wondering if it is worth anything or if I should keep it and try to put Linux on it.

He forgot the password and I had to do some things in the terminal to get around it. So far, everything looks to be in working order. I have never owned a Mac or Apple products in general so I am kinda out of my element here lol
