Share your vaporwave music, videos, and aesthetic art. All in one place!

Before you start posting and interacting, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with general community guidelines to ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Follow the Lemmy Rules: The Lemmy rules apply in addition to our community specific guidelines. See link or image below:
Self-Promotion Guidelines: Self-promotion is welcome, but within reason. Multiple posts are allowed since we are just starting out, but keep it interesting and unique!
Sourcing and Credit: Please provide proper credit and sources for any music/videos you post if possible. It isn't necessarily required to post here, but it definitely helps people find songs that may be hard to search up.
Discussion and Critique: Engage in meaningful discussions and critique, but keep it constructive. Use common sense!
NSFW Content: Pornography is not allowed. Keep in mind there are some ballsy users who may browse Lemmy in public spaces without NSFW filters. Try to label and tag NSFW content appropriately and avoid explicit or overly offensive material.
Sensible Titles: Use coherent and descriptive titles for your posts when possible. Since vaporwave has many stylized fonts and text, we are pretty relaxed about this. Just don't add things such as links/adverts in the title.
Relevant Content Only: This should be obvious, but please avoid posts that are unrelated to vaporwave. We really don't want to remove posts unless it's something like spam.
Have Fun! Federated sites have much more freedom for users. You should be able to post without worrying about it being removed immediately over thousands of arbitrary rules. We want users to feel at home! Memes about vaporwave are allowed.

We are still new like most people that are migrating from Reddit. There's going to be some growing pains along the way and it's also going to take time for everyone to get used to things. Be patient!

Remember, the Vaporwave Lemmy Community is a place to celebrate and discuss this unique and captivating aesthetic and music. Enjoy your time here!

Also please dont hesitate to let me know if the video host has any problems loading for you. I had to stop posting videos here months ago because catbox.moe blocks VPNs & certain regions, but expect more videos posted here in the coming weeks if this new host works! I'd love to share my old collection here!

I'm a few days late to the news, but I just found this out now and figured I would post this in here as the vaporwave community a ton of overlap with this artist and genre.

Pour one out for Kavinsky guys. Rest in peace to a legend. I'm sad now 😢

The visuals in the second half made me think of Godot's ambient light, and that it could probably achieve something like this. Unshaded look on illuminated faces, shadowed faces the same but multiplied by ambient color.

Most recently I got a better effect (step) for a hard shadow, but for some reason this also sometimes appears blocky when in front of lit area it isn't in (even if area is not visible). Probably usable at this point (slightly better than basic diffuse), though the ambient effect still doesn't work like I expect (not sure how to fix w/o being able to directly multiply by ambient).

Hi guys, a quick little update alongside this post. I am really sorry that I haven't been active these last few weeks. I recently lost my dog and found out a family member has cancer now, so I haven't been motivated to do anything anymore 😢

I am going to try posting stuff from my old phone gallery to help keep things going. But in the meantime, I would greatly appreciate it if you could post your favorite songs, artwork, or anything vaporwave related here if possible when I am away. I love this community and love the fediverse too, so I am not going anywhere. If you are interested in a being a moderator, please send me a message.

Thank you for understanding.

Much love from your local vaporwave community <3
