Open an user's page, and bookmark it with a brief description. Or have an alt in software that allows this sort of thing.
Or how communism operates, perhaps.
"You will own nothing and you will be happy". No inequality if everyone's equally miserable, and helps push the acceptable amount of control. Something not just these companies do, and that I have the impression that isn't even originally their agenda.
But on lack of contents, mislabeling, lack of cross-federation between BookWyrm and NeoDB, not unsolvable issues. Like people would complain about Lemmy in 2022 but now is pretty active, edits on entries (at least on NeoDB) being possible for any users afaik (though might need approval to avoid abuses), cross-federarion being possible to suggest in the softwares' issue trackers, and so on.
Can't tell for others, but I try to use NeoDB (@Auster@eggplant.place) whenever I remember to. Just don't use it more because I'm pretty busy.
By coincidence(?) a band I follow released a pre-order for an album today 💃🕺
Iirc the first news are about a month old now, pretty recent stuff. Having followed console modding and emulation for some decades now, from my experience, patience's the key.
On the Switch 2 specifically, I made a thread of posts a while back, listing my irritations with the console and its overdependance and overreliance on internet connections.
But if you'd be interested in following news on the matter, GBAtemp's a good source for that, and adjacent to that there's also !emulation@sh.itjust.works and !emulator_news@crust.piefed.social (latter one run by me hehe). In fact, GBAtemp has RSS feeds, so I think I'll link to Piefed too.
Victim blaming helps no one but the abuser.
If you want to help, be informative of the issues you are aware of, and participate in movements to improve the situation.
But @Rhoeri@lemmy.world, a rule of thumb in console modding is to never update your console, unless explicitly said otherwise.
System updates in consoles after a mod is released usually also carry a patch for the vulnerability that allowed modding.
Also if you speak Portuguese and/or Spanish, or are willing to tolerate Youtube's AI translations, you can find some pretty good tutorials from native speakers of either languages.
Someone being on par with a company's BS doesn't mean everyone is though, and Sony covers their tracks usually.
Depends on your system version. Iirc the most recent version that can be modded is 14.00, but I haven't been following closely.
"You will own nothing and you will be happy"
Sony's been going on this path for quite a while, since at least the PSP Iirc. You can't own what you can't keep, so Sony even redefines that word. Even their subsidiaries, like the Crunchyroll Store, are getting affected by Sony's agenda.
Now, if you're on the PS4 or PS5, I do agree you should buy Skyrim again.
...on GOG.
Then mod your console, install Linux on it, and run the officially DRM free version of the game through Wine. 👌
Or buy a physical copy for the PS3 and emulate on RPCS3 on Linux on the PS4/PS5, but it wouldn't be as poetic.
