How much has this cost the USA? How much would NHS style healthcare cost?

A fraction of what your regular military budget is. Hell, a fraction of what the government already pays for healthcare.

The system is free - it uses the same stuff! - but the governmental changes required would be too much.

(Cuba and Canada used the same system until conservatives started making Canada a little mercenary, so Cuba is like Canada but more affordable and equal)

How much has this cost the USA?

When you consider how much we'd lose continuing to fight the war, it's a net gain.

The cost was bombing Iran to begin with, not paying reparations for the damage done.

Needed to do something to distract from the epstein files, they were getting to much attention.

    and it worked.

Whens the last time you saw media mention epstein? now that they've been spoonfed their constant IV of controversy with regards to the baseless attack on Iran?

The market manipulation with constant monday/friday announcements were just a happy bonus for their benefactors.. and whens the last time you saw media mention this, either?

    and it worked

The CBS buyout and the AI infestation of media has done more to quell Epstein talk than the war.

What we're experiencing outside a few niche social media holdouts is an automated smothering of discourse.

now that they’ve been spoonfed their constant IV of controversy with regards to the baseless attack on Iran?

You can trace this kind of journalism back to the Clinton Administration. It's not new.

What is new is the gobbling up of public broadcasters and news outlets and media feeds.

How much has this cost the USA?

Probably a lot on bombs, fuel, inflation etc. but this isn't really costing us anything. These were funds that Iran held in the US prior to trump pulling out of the iran deal the first time and were frozen because of sanctions. So it's more returning money that we stole rather then paying Iran with US taxpayer money.

  • source

  • [–] 33 points 4 months ago (1 child)

Unfortunately they won't care about the $300 billion at all, because it'll never appear on Fox News or their safe spaces on social media. At most they've already signaled it will be completely lied about as an "investment fund" that will imply some value in return without promising, follow-up or accountability.

US citizens serving on the home front during WWII sacrificed all sorts of basic foods and materials, all to help the war effort and, you know, defeat the spread of fascism. Today, we paid out the ass to fill our cars up at the pump for months, just so we could drive to work. And all so Trump could accomplish…nothing. Absolutely fucking nothing. He fucked with the stock market for a bit, and then capitulated like the fat fucking bitch that he is. And the people who support him, probably the people most affected by all of this bullshit, will still support him.

That's a good idea! Trump should get a loan to pay that himself. Maybe a 50year loan? A Wargage! It's a mortgage for wars. Let's say you can't pay right now, but you would really like to get rid of some country. You get a Wargage and just pay the minimum for 50 years! Get your family members into it to help you and you could own a war in no time! We just need a billion down payment and some collateral.

    • Americans will be bankrupted by the Iran Deal

    • Iranians are stupid if they think the Americans will pay what they agree

Somehow these are two bad things that we're supposed to juggle in our heads simulateously.

Where is the American liberal out saying "Holy fuck, we were wrong to attack and Iran deserves far more than the pittance Trump is offering"? Where is the American liberal saying "The Federal government should not continue to be allowed to welch on it's debts to the people it has wronged. We must hold future administrations to the task of reparations we've agreed to today"?

Instead, it's just a litany of "Trump Bad! Trump Bad!" as though the rest of the federal system wasn't rubber stamping this Holocaust from day one.

It doesn't matter how much they say they're going to pay. We're just going to get another turn of the wheel: we'll be right on the cusp of a deal, then Israel will murder a few thousand people and literally blow the deal up. The war continues but we're still in a ceasefire, the Straight is open but nobody's allowed through, Iran's military capabilities have been completely destroyed but they're still launching missiles. Give it two more weeks and we'll be right on the cusp of a deal with another jaw-dropping offer for Iran that won't matter because they know we'll just turn the wheel again.

Vance’s admission contradicts what he said on Friday, when he claimed in an X post that Iran would not be “receiving any cash, and no funds are being released simply for signing a deal or attending a meeting.” In addition to the U.S. and its allies paying $300 billion in reconstruction funds, Iran reports that the U.S. has agreed to release $25 billion in frozen Iranian assets.

So the IRGC and the Islamic Republic are still in place

American bombs killed a lot of them. We killed a lot of their wives and kids and friends and neighbors, too. We obliterated their homes and hospitals and highways, which will mean a wave of excess deaths come winter. And we killed a lot of the moderate diplomats interested in peaceful negotiations, so we've set the stage for wars to come.

America is paying them to stay in place.

America is paying them to replace all the shit we broke, in the hopes we can once against get access to cheap oil.

The alternative was to keep exchanging salvos - a la Russia/Ukraine - for an indefinite future period in the hopes that... ??? All the conservative Islamists in Iran will... ??? And then we can impose a new regime in Tehran at gunpoint, like we did so successfully in Iraq and Afghanistan and Libya and Syria?

  • source

You can only do that so much before people stop trusting your currency. Up until recently, the Saudis sold oil exclusively for USD, now they've started selling it for other currencies including yuan.

China sells consumer goods to the US for USD. China gives that USD to the Saudis for oil. The Saudis give that USD back to the US in exchange for bombing civilians in Yemen. That's how things have worked for the past like 50 years.

If the USD (and the US) stops being seen as reliable, then eventually the whole thing falls apart, and we're seeing the first signs of that already. The Saudis will start telling us our bombs are too expensive and China will say the scraps of paper we give them aren't worth it. If we're not dropping bombs on behalf of oppressive monarchies in exchange for oil, and importing cheap goods from underpaid overseas workers, then what do we even have left, as a country?

It's probably for the best for the world in the long term that that system falls apart (provided Americans don't go apeshit and start WWIII, which is a big assumption), and in the very short term of course using the infinite money hack solves a lot of problems, but in the medium term, it's gonna be rocky.

Fortunately, there aren't any other major crises we've been kicking down the road for short term benefits that are going to reach a head in the near future, so we can focus excluively on that.

Debt isn't a problem until it suddenly is. That inflation you're brushing off can get worse, eventually to the point where they're printing money just to stay afloat. We're already at the point where $1 trillion goes to just paying the interest on the debt each year.

Been saying since the start: Iran is in on all this.

Edit: Okay, clearly many of you have not thought this through:

    • IRGC Coup -- The IRGC has LONG been wanting to make a move over the Ayatollah. Now the new Ayatollah is a sockpuppet and the IRGC has completely taken over by way of coup.

    • Quelled Civil Unrest -- Prior to this conflict, civil unrest in Iran was heavily mounting. Thousands upon thousands out on the street. Now Iranian dissidents hopeful for being rescued were baited out of their homes, only to be slaughtered the first time Trump left them hanging, and the second time Israel and USA suddenly became the new threat and rallied the masses around while also indicating nobody was actually coming to save them from the tyranny within.

    • Superficial Damage -- Most damage done to Iran has largely been superficial for media optics. Even their nuclear program has largely remained intact.

    • New Cashflow -- Not only has this massively benefitted Russia with lifted oil sanctions, the IRGC got a massive injection into their own economy, both with the new toll system but also the literal cited fucking article above.

I stand by what I said: Iran, or rather a certain faction in Iran, was likely in on it. This makes worlds of sense when you realize how tight Iran, Russia, and Republicans are together.

Everything is a conspiracy when you’re dumb as rocks.

The Iranians closed one of the most important trade routes for several months and then bombed US bases, destroyed aircraft, and deployed drones while holding position. They used a strategic advantage and decades of preparation to cow down a world empire.

In a month we will be feeling this conflict even worse because of the delay in oil production - we’ve been drawing from established strategic supplies that we spent years filling and rotating - and having to buy in a world that’s producing less.

Thinking everything was manufactured by the US and Iran is ass backwards.

Question: Who wants the US to go to war with Iran?

    Answer: Israel

Israeli lobbyists ask American politicians to fight Iran for them and plenty of presidential candidates have stated that they would love to start a war with Iran, but they never do. Why?

Once a candidate gets into office they get advised by the Joint Chiefs of Staff that Iran is in a fortified position and the military would be unable to invade.

They get told that a war with Iran would disrupt global trade (and it has).

They get told that Israel always asks us to go to war with Iran and that the United States wouldn’t get enough benefit from it.

Trump is the first President to ever fall for Israel’s plot to send the US to war with Iran. That’s the conspiracy. Trump got played and he’s pissed at Israel. And the Israelis are mad that they didn’t get a ground invasion and are now trying to sabotage the peace negotiations.

Screaming Israel over and over does not preclude coordination with Iran and Russia. These things are not mutually-exclusive. This should be abundantly obvious when all parties are lead by psychopaths, and when each and every single one benefit.

This is what you're missing in your obsession over Israel.

Really quick - do you acknowledge Russia' actions in Ukraine are illegal and morally wrong and unjustified?

Whether it was Trump being stupid, Trump sabotaging the country, or Trump coordinating with them directly -- I'm not even sure that matters so much, but it is very clear that Iran, Russia, and Israel are all better off now than they were before the strikes. Which to me tracks for Trump selling off America.

Also can we stop pretending that Trump is actually making these decisions and isn't a sock-puppet letting his administration run things? Did we not see the article where JD Vance was running the show in the Situation Room? Do we not yet understand that this administration is being run by the surrounding psychopaths?
