You know you're in the bad timeline when you can't tell if this is real or not

I don't follow US politics very closely, but the other day I saw the official whitehouse twitter account posted footage of them bombing someone, with wii sports 'nice shot' shit over the top.
These cunts have no concept of remorse, they're having fun and joking around.
Seeing that shit doesn't make anyone respect them, it makes us wish somebody did the same thing back to them.

As far as I can tell, this is not real

And yet, we have to seriously look to be able to be sure. What a world.

I literally broke an accidental streak of not logging into x for like a year to make sure the last three 'screenshots' of trump weren't real, including this one. Seriously though, was the 'praise Allah' one real or not? I honestly can't tell for sure if it's satire or just something one of his handlers deleted.

The "Praise Allah" one was absolutely real and many news orgs have written about it at this point. It's pretty depressing...

How horrible that people have to support a platform just to cross check on the blathering of a dementia patient.

Not to mock dementia patients at all, it is a horrible thing to have to go through, but literally the same thing one might have to do to keep track of an elderly relative to make sure they aren't signing over the title to their house or sending their monthly income to Nigeria.

You've gotta understand how for the many people who already saw that post, for you to say that this one "is real", which could be interpreted as an escalating followup post, is extremely misleading to the point of dishonest. You can't just be like "yeah bro this post is real" and then point to a literally different post which is substantially less alarming.

It was not real, his actual truth social post was:

Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Yeah it makes no sense; he literally posted something as bad as this:

Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin' Strait, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

That’s something funny to be honest. I understand that it’s supposed to be that way, but I picture him being jumping angry like some toddler and screaming this out red faced and I can’t get that out of my head. I think he’s really loosing his marbles because he can’t get out of that stupid war he started and he’s been realizing now that it was a mistake and he doesn’t have anyone to blame for it.

Conspiracy brain thinks of a few reasons:

    1. To preemptively establish what "real crazy" looks like so that we tolerate what he's actually saying and doing more

    2. To muddy the lines between fake and real so that everyone is too confused to fact check anything

    3. Garden variety people being stupid and wanting to exaggerate something because exaggeration=funny, and they're not aware of the harm this does

    4. To bait the left into accepting the same sort of "the fact that this is believable (to me) PROVES that this is valid possibility and worldview" mentality that the right adopted a decade ago, which ultimately makes people much easier to manipulate

    5. To position the left as yet another entity that promotes its views via misleading "jokes" that on the one hand legitimately misinform people, but when called out can be defended as "just a joke that you were too stupid to recognize" - that is, borrowing another successful but evil strategy that the right has recently made use of

I'm reminded of an exchange in an old TV show:

Well take this for what little it will profit you. As I look at you ambassador Mollari, I see a great hand reaching out of the stars. The hand is your hand. And I hear sounds. The sounds of billions of people calling your name."

    "My followers?"

    "Your victims."

Not sure why you got downvotes, that's exactly what his followers would think.

I saw a video of a young girl in the middle easyt conflict who's mom had died. Her response when asked if she was sad about her parents being dead, was less emotion about loss and her words were I'm glad she was martyred, I hope someday I get to do the same. That's what MAGA will be like.

A geriatric publicly dying of natural causes is a pretty different scenario than a girl whose parents were killed.

They'll try to martyr him, but it won't be as effective as it would be if he was killed.

This does not appear to be real. He did have a similar truth social post:

Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Its not really satire if its almost exactly what he said but slightly worse, theres not really a joke or commentary and it does succeed at being misleading, I feel like its fair to describe it as misinformation. Its just an exaggeration of how bad what he said is.

There are people in this tread litterally claiming its true because there are sources that substantiate him saying something very similar.

*Edited for clarity that I feel its fair to call this misinformation

As in, you can go read Trump's actual post yourself.

I don't like this shitpost. It is too close to reality, so it effectively becomes misinformation, doesn't add anything to the world.

  • [–] 4 points 7 months ago (7 children)

What I don't get if it's really such a priority from him and he is so mad...doesnt America have enough bombs to just level the region? Can't he just make a call and say "kill everyone, make it glass" and it would be done?

That would be horrible to do. I'm not condoning it and thousands of lives would be lost. That said in the 80s America could literally destroy the earth... With advancements in technology and the money we spent couldn't they just say "do it" and make the whole area done for atleast a few generations? How do they lose wars? If they are so dead set on this can't they just carpet bomb the entire country?

I think the military is pushing back on him, that's why they fired four generals yesterday. If it were up to him we would have dropped many nukes already.

Seems systemic... Spend trillions every year and never win a war since desert storm or ww2 before that. It's not budget, it's not man power either the military are doing something really poorly or there is some type of corruption somewhere taking that money...

  • I mean they've bombed the shit out of countries before, e.g. Vietnam. It didn't win them any wars since WW2 as you said. And yes there's definitely massive corruption happening in the MIC, no doubt. Im just saying, if it were up to trump he would have nuked tehran, someone had to tell him it wasn't gonna happen. (He literally talked about nuking a hurricane at a public televised press conference in the past.)

I'm under the impression that no, the US does not have enough conventional weapons to do this. If he were to escalate to non-conventional weapons that would change things but I don't want to think about how the rest of the world would react to the US carpet bombing an entire country with nukes…

I agree I'm just confused how us seems to spend so much on military yet lose every war. It's like a jock spending 12 hrs a day in the gym and losing every boxing match against the local chess club.

Not to mention so much news that we "rescued" one airmam from a down helicopter. Great, now compare that to D-day or any battle in the US civil war...no contest. We are using so many resources for "war" rather right or wrong doesn't matter, we do nothing but lose. I'd fire every officer in the military, you have an effective unlimited budget, you have millions of man hours at your disposal but consistently fail at every "war" since... Desert storm? Even that is questionable. Even before that have Vietnam... Lost... Korea... Didn't actually lose but still didn't win... Ww2 ok yeah we won with cooperation from most other countries.

US is a "super power" and spend more than the 9 countries in the top 10 of military spending but we always lose...wtf??

  • source

  • Because winning an offensive war is much much harder than winning a defensive war. Nobody defends anything better than they defend their homeland. Same reason russia can't win the war in Ukraine. That's why the first gulf war in early 90s was won too. US was fighting to defend Kuwait from Iraqi invasion. Once the US forced Iraqi army back to their side of the border, they negotiate a ceasfire. They only fought the war defensively alongside Kuwaiti fighters in Kuwait.

  • source

  • [–] 1 point 7 months ago

I think the issue is that winning long-term requires investing in the defeated country, like you guys did with Japan. Rather than just stopping bombing them and leaving them to fend for themselves, breeding resentment. Resentment is gonna happen regardless, of course, which is why the best move is to not start a war in the first place.
