Vice President Vance on Wednesday blamed the ongoing Iran war for the Republican Party’s abysmal results in the midterm elections, brushing off other issues that appeared to tank GOP candidates, including the Trump administration’s harsh immigration policies.

“The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night,” Vance said in a lengthy social media post.

“If you’d like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that’s at least honest,” he continued.

“But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.”

It is kind of a big deal that Vance said this publicly and on purpose. Donald can't be happy.

It's not going to amount to anything, because remember, both parties voted to fund the war... but it's culturally at least kind of a big deal. And that funding came through AFTER we found out the DoW was spending millions a month on steak and lobster.

He was recently snubbed by Trump who refused to endorse him again, despite years of selling his soul to curry favour with the man. There's not much love lost between them, it's a purely transactional relationship

Waiting for a confession of "I was for it before I was against it" for 2028.

Vance is politically screwed. He hitched his wagon to Trump's rising star and now he's stuck in the middle of a river with dysentry and a broken wheel.

No he's not. They have the memory of a goldfish. All he has to do is sit back, let fockz nooz blame Dems for everything over the next 2 years and he'll coast through the primaries

Yup. The base are utterly clueless and the "independents" are often just as clueless.

I bet anything they don't know about his Thiel/Curtis Yarvin connections. Or how he endorsed the book The Unhumans, FFS.

And I bet few have read The Nerd Reich or have read - or at least read about - The Sovereign Individual...

Just trying to distance himself from the most unpopular part of the current admin so his presidential campaign isn't a total joke.

Spoiler: it will be a total joke.

So when does Trump flee to Tel Aviv and leave this bumbling couch-fucker in charge? God, that would be hilarious.

The reason you lost is Trump. And the GOP being a bunch of Nazis.

Clearly that wasn't a problem for most voters when they reelected him. Vance is a douche but he's right, gas prices were probably the biggest reason even Republican voters voted for Democrats this time around.

For me it's the 16 million scheduled to die in the next decade from having cut USAID. And a ton of other reasons, but that one stands out

No...the reason you lost is because you're literally a dick head on ever...single...issue that the working people care about.

It's as though MAGA and Trump loyalists make a fucking spreadsheet, cross reference it with current events and the opinion of the working class, and then mathematically determine the exact opposite and most infuriating take on it, and then disseminate that out to their social media influencer army.

    Get fucked, Vance.

Bush in 2000 talked about being careful about getting involved in foreign wars and nation building exercises, while his opponent ran as more interventionist. Then he invaded Iraq and Afghanistan.

As the war in Afghanistan dragged on and people got frustrated with the political establishment, Trump distanced himself from that and presented himself as staying out of such conflicts, while his opponents ran as interventionists. Then he attack Iran.

As gas prices soared and the Iran War dragged on, accomplishing nothing, Vance is now distancing himself from it and presenting himself as someone who would stay out of such conflicts.

Will Americans finally grasp basic pattern recognition and realize that Republicans are a bunch of warmongering psychos no matter what they say? Guess we'll find out.
