I like it...

In a trip to Quebec City I found a Misty Mountain tuque; it was surprisingly cheap given we were in a souvenir shop so I go it.

Loved it so much I bought a winter jacket from the same brand that looks just like the one in this post. I have loved it since and can handle Canadian winter

This is, indeed, peak form as far as I am concerned

Would definitely cause the stock to move in a predictable way yes.

Exactly what you said the orange menace was utterly unable to do.

However it would not make or break it

What if he does that, and starts a war and insult allies, and fires a ton of gov employees?... I could go on but it seems you won't take anything as proof of how much BAD influence the orange pedophile has had

Can you point to anything he has done in the last month to cause tech stocks to fall

Why would he want tech stock to fall? he has been grifting off them so far... and what's next, are you going to frame it the question in such a narrow way so that it's literally impossible for me to answer?

and couldn’t just do it because of a previously appointed fed chair

Ok this tells me you don't know how any of that works...

However he can’t just pick a day and say “this is the day I’m going to make the stock market crash to make my opponents look bad.”

No? what if he were to sign an executive order banning SpaceX from gov contracts (something he already did for Anthropic), do you think SpaceX stock would be unchanged?

Yes, I understood what you were saying... but I disagree.

Can trump "fix" the world economy by pushing one button? no... can he make things way worse with one message on his garbage truth social? absolutely he can...

So how can you claim he does not have control over immediate market conditions?

are you sure you are not not just projecting here?

Look I get it, in NORMAL conditions, you are correct... any regular president that engages in normal parameters (and that already includes the standard corruption baked into the system) you are correct. There is little they can do to move inflation, reduce prices, etc

However, how can you deny that the orange turd actions have no bearings in how the economy is reacting?

Explain it to me, how does declaring war on Iran and the very predictable closure of the Strait of Hormuz, has no bearings on the heighten price of oil and therefore oil derivatives

Its almost like the economy is complicated and can’t be explained by pointing at the actions of one person.

So you think that applying tariffs with no basis on reality, insulting all your countries allies and starting a war that choked 20% of the oil supply HAD NO BEARINGS in the economy? It all would have happened almost the same had the orange turd not done these things?

If you still think the president of the USA has no say in the markets you are just a fool

True, they cannot generate structural lasting change overnight but had the MAGAs held on to power, it would not matter at all that Data Center construction was rejected by the electorate, they would just ignore the people... hell, even with the Democrats, it is less than 50-50 chance they would actually listen to the people

That’s it. But if they’ve had time, everyone has had time.

You mean the 3 examples you found from people either not in the USA at all or one standalone campaigner? yes, how is it that the people running for a historic election are not already working and posting publicly about this specific thing?!

Change.org is typically a point of interest. Note how the 450k signatures overnight are ignored by American media.

The petition has 49K not 450K; but I think it's typical to be ignored because I can sign it and I am Canadian... there is almost no legitimacy to these online petitions

PS: turns out there are, at least 2, petitions against Jeffries.

The one you point out with 450K signatures is 2 months old (so not overnight)

The one I found, is from yesterday, and has 49K so far

May I suggest that, if you are posting some backing evidence, post directly to it, not to an open repository

    Sept 08, 2026

Canada Strong isn’t about just withstanding this crisis, it’s about coming out of it stronger, more resilient, and more independent.

It’s about ensuring that no other country can determine our future, and that we can live how we want to live.

We have a plan, we’re on track, and we’re just getting started.

The Trump administration has forced a Canadian-backed renewable energy company to abandon its landmark wind power project — and is demanding an equivalent investment in US fossil fuel development if the company wants to recoup $120 million USD in offshore wind leases.

    Hi all,

Most recipes and videos I have seen online start with a yogurt based marinade for the chicken. The chicken is then "seared", removed from the pan, rest of sauce built up and chicken returned to finish cooking.

My issue here is that you cannot really sear wet stuff in a pan. So that chicken, covered in yogurt marinade will not really sear (even if you shake off the excess). You basically get a braising conditions in the pan. This probably DOES work in a grill as the marinade simply drips into the coals and burns but not in a pan.

    So the question is:

    • Wouldn't it be better to dry rub the chicken so it could be seared and simply use the yogurt (and rest of wet ingredients for the marinade) as a deglazing liquid afterwards?
