It might pass in the house, but unless the senate republicans are really looking for a fall guy, there is little chance for a conviction/removal until the new congress is sworn in and by that time Massie is out...

I wonder if this is Putin directly threatening Musk with the destruction of Starlink. Starlink is SpaceX's only profitable business. It brings in over 60% of the companies revenue. Though if Russia initiated or accelerated the Kessler syndrome, everyone would be pissed so probably a bluff...

Get the batteries out and wipe the electronics with a soft towel soaked with a little vinegar to neutralize the corrosion. Then a damp towel with just water to get the vinegar up. Let it fully dry before putting in new batteries. This happens to batteries that have sat unused for a long time installed. It can also happen if at the end of charge, you pull the batteries out, and put them back in to squeeze a little more use out of the batteries. Do it too many times and there is a leak risk. Cheaper batteries do it more often but the top brands will occasionally leak as well.

Except this is the only post I've seen about No Kings on lemmy this morning and I had to search for it on Bluesky. Maybe the problems are beyond the corporate media or maybe the revolution will not be televised...

Tough one. I've been playing video games since pong. I tossed a big stack of 5 1/4 floppies when I realized I'd never have another drive installed that could read them. Same with 3 1/2 floppies. I still have all the CD/DVD's I've ever bought but have ended up re-buying on sale through steam or GOG when I needed a nostalgia hit because they just worked on modern systems without a bunch of tinkering. I can download just about any game I once had on either sized floppy and run it in dosbox. On modern systems, I've been on playstation and steam. Bought the PS5 with a disk drive and have installed PS4 disks but have yet to buy a PS5 disk, only digital which I prefer. I hate trying to find the disk, then find the case for the disk for the game in the machine. I also question what you own on modern games. Do you really want to play some of these games without the day one patch, or even the one month patch? What to do really own with a No Mans Sky launch disk if hello games disappeared and it could not be patched?

On the other hand, though I'm too much of a data hoarder to sell games used, I understand the desire. And having a kid that always wants the newest game for birthdays/Christmas but grandma has no real way to buy him the game specifically, I get physical for something to wrap and have under the tree.

In theory, I want to own my games but the history and reality of video games makes that a much more nuanced question...

With the down modding, dam and I thought reddit was an echo chamber...

I totally agree. I encountered them on playstation as trophies and thought there would be a 3D room you could explore all your trophies, maybe 3 or 4 per game total, finish the game and a few hard sub-bosses or quests. The reality was: walk across the room trophy, the save the game trophy, the pause while going to the bathroom trophy... Turned that shit off quick...

I think what will happen is the full awesome version will be released but will be illegal to drive on the street everywhere except some place like Dubai, and even then only outside cites. The normal version will have everything stripped by the NTSB, and will end up just a fast electric sports car.

There was a story linked from hackernews yesterday that said Yandex has both a cloud and a search engine. The search engine bots, which are similar to google bots were knocked off line. Some Russian bots used the Yandex cloud and were knocked off line momentarily but quickly switched to other networks. In other words Russia uses redundancy like every other competent tech user...
