VTuber Ember Paradox has come under fire from fellow right-leaning collaborators for 'lying' after her voice filter glitched during a livestream

had to edit that bigotted headline. Ember Paradox uses “she/her” when referring to herself.

Ember Paradox

& yes, I’m extremely aware of the dogwhistle here.

Pretty sure the headline isnt bigoted OP. The person in questions uses both she/he and her/him pronouns, depending on persona. The chud is not openly trans as much as maintaining two differently gendered self identities at once.

    Kotaku is doing their best:

I’m using she/her pronouns in this article based on Ember Paradox’s response. However, Ember Paradox stated later in the stream that they prefer to use male pronouns when not embracing their VTuber persona.

This may be an egg situation, but in either case they explicitly use he/him and she/her pronouns at the same time, so any of them should be fine to refer to the individual as a whole who has affirmed they use both.

    “They”

uses both she/he and her/him pronouns

This was the bigotry was alluding to. I am well aware of Ember identfies as a バ美肉, which is both. But thank you for confirming she doesn't identify as trans.

They would have been fine in general, but the person in question uses both sets of pronouns explicitly, so to me the article and its title are very respectful in using them as accurately as possible. They want to be called he/him or she/her, not they/them.

I expect this is actually a case of a trans woman that has not come to terms with their identity, but until then, they have dual simultaneous pronouns in their two identifies. Using all of them is respectful, but also a mindfuck, so mistakes should be forgiven as inadvertent unless they are explicitly bigoted.

Based on Kotaku's tone and forward statements about their gender, I lean very heavily into "not bigoted" in my reading of the article.

When I’m streaming, this is me. Any time I stream, this is me; Ember, the redhead, sometimes anime catgirl.

So, you want to just be yourself, but you're aligning yourself with and suppoting the far-right monsters that want to force you to only ever identity as the gender you were assigned at birth? Oh, and they want to literally deport you or lock you up. Whether you admit it or not, you're betraying people all over the world...

I just assumed all female v-tubers were actually guys IRL. Is that just me?

It sounds like this person lives their everyday life as a man so I don't mean to come off anti trans when I say that, it's just that this is exactly what I would have expected. If they had transitioned IRL they'd probably be way less into the whole v-tuber thing.

No, it's a very common idea, though I'm not sure why. There are thousands of v-tubers, but it's the top 1% that make 90% of the money. Pretending to be a woman online isn't a cheat code to becoming rich and famous.

A lot of v-tubers are drawn to it because it creates a separation between their onscreen persona and their real life face.

I don't follow this vtuber to know if she identifies as trans, but def. as バ美肉。 Ember seems to separate both.
The leoparding is more of her punching down on minorities, getting now punch down by her audience. Reap what you sow sort of thing.

  • They're just mad because woman they've been fantasizing about fucking, in their mind, is a man, and that makes them gay. I bet at least more than half of these incels would still smash if they had the chance.

For anyone else wondering why they'd say this, reading the article the VTuber was "using her voice to punch down on marginalized people", so the situation could be viewed as similar to an anti-LGBT politician being outed as gay.

why didn't she try voice training so as to not need a filter?

Better question, why didn't this woman with a perfectly edible face just avoid the leopards altogether instead of actively trying to ingratiate herself with them? Had she been a more tolerant person in more tolerant circles she wouldn't need voice training or filters to keep her "friends" from wanting her dead.
