Assuming that the game can't actually kill you? Probably some mundane simulation of 1997 ish. Give me enough in-universe currency and fast travel.

    Lots to do.

The way I see it: After the cold war, before the war on terrorism, Trump, Russia's 21st century wars, although after eternal September the internet didn't have wide adoption yet (at least not in Europe), Trump, Brexit, Covid, DMCA, Trump, enshittification wasn't part of every product released yet. Oh, and Trump.

And I wasn't old enough to have a care in the world in '97 but unlikely rbos had that as a reason.

Partly nostalgia. Partly the political situation (as @VonReposti says). Partly the climate being more stable. By the year 3000 I'll probably be wanting to re-experience the world before ecological poverty.

Partly just thinking, that if I'm going to be stuck somewhere with enough to keep me entertained for a good long while, the real world is a pretty good place. Access to all the books, video games, movies, TV, and anime I could possibly want. :)

Assuming that I'm not immortal in that new place? Probably something like Animal Crossing.

A TV Show presents an interesting loophole: you can warp into an alternate timeline of the real world in the past. Consider something like Mythbusters: now you're just hanging out with some super cool people in San Francisco, decades ago.

Considering that I only play a single game it then seems like I've going to be spending a lot more time in Chernarus. I hope the ability to respawn was part of the deal - otherwise I'm screwed.

somewhere relatively safe, fun, and technologically depressed enough for me to become successful.

probably "Kamitachi ni Hirowareta Otoko" aka "By the Grace of the Gods".

if I'm just a mob without any powers then probably "Ataerareta Skill wo Tsukatte Kasei de Isekai Bijotachi to Ichaicha shitai" aka "I Want to Use the Skills Given to Earn Money and Flirt With Beauties From Other World".
