I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't own a 1541 until early 2009. I was a cassette lamer.

So for Easter 2008 I have handed in a commodore 64 executable music entry on cassette at breakpoint. I think they were the last to require entries to be submitted on physical media.

In the years after I still used a lot of 5.25" and 3.5" on my c64, Amiga and Atari.

Today I have a turbo chameleon 64, a c64 ultimate and a gotek drive on my Amiga. I don't miss diskettes.

As for USB drives. I got one for Christmas 2001. It had a whopping 32mb of storage and required proprietary drivers to mount.

I'm from Finland, which has a 1340km border with Russia.

When my grandad grew up you'd either hunt or fish if you wantes to eat. My dad hunted. I'm the only one of my siblings with a hunting license. I was raised with a lot of "when the Russians come"-mentality.

I've been moving countries, so I've had to give up my rifles and I'm not that passionate about it that I'd figure out where to go do it. But I do think it's a good skill to have, and I keep my license active.

And my two spaniels would love it.

I'm not the right person to give advice in these matters. But your story reminds me of a documentary I saw a few years back. It's pretty much two persons in their 60s discussing their transition, regretting it and kind of where they've landed since. Anywho, don't rush into this decision.

I was in a hotel room doing one of those clone-a-willie kits. Then I noticed that the mold had coloured my hands blue. Then I had a look downstairs, and Petteri jr was blue, too.

It's software that you use to modify models to remove restrictions put in during training. Like refusing to explain how to make meth or bombs. Or say that nothing violent ever happened on Tiananmen square and that no public figures look like Winnie the Pooh.

Price is one factor. I've never bought a new car. I've also never had a car loan.

Privacy is one factor. My 2016 is just about the newest you can get without being connected to the interwebs. I prefer my car to be finished as it rolls out of the factory without requiring updates like it was a modern game.

Caravan is one factor. I did 5000km towing a tonne this summer. Any range is cut in half when towing that. Most charging stations don't really make space for a trailer.

I'd consider a small cheap EV for local trips like grocery shopping or taking the kids to kindergarten. The diesel particle filter isn't too happy about short trips. We have electric bikes and trailers for that, so.. maybe if it's a gnarly winter.

I guess we're doing OK in Sweden. We're used to high grocery and fuel prices. I'm driving a diesel and filling up at almost $10 per gallon.

Energy prices are hurting. Mostly because we're on the same shared market as Germany.. and Germany has dismantled their nuclear energy. Wind and solar is great when it's windy or sunny. But it leaves us wanting on cold still nights.

The state has been subsidizing both fuel and electricity, but it's not really going to the right pockets.
