No it's anecdotal. Someone told me they discovered CSAM on second hand hardware and that was what they were told when they reported it. Umbrella just shows the incompetence of the police, this case shows the incompetence of the law. Doesn't matter if anyone got jailed because of it, the fear is enough to not report CSAM.

The vagueness is absolutely a problem and in morality laws might even be an intended side effect.

This source though interprets it differently saying that having a hand at the throat without actual choking isn't covered but do note the keyword seems to be is splattered all over the page. (PS. The page is SFW but I don't know about the rest of the site).

No matter what this is an inch away from being a straight up though police law.

The way I read it is that possession of the material is illegal, not sharing or recording. Possession. In Denmark possession of CSAM was made illegal and it lead to police being forced to prosecute people who accidentally uncovered CSAM and wanted to report it. I haven't heard of specific cases, but if you want to report existence of CSAM on a CD that is in your hands which you found in the attic of a home you just moved into the police will tell you to destroy it immediately and forget about it because the law can't distinguish between the owner of the CSAM and the current temporary person that possesses it and reports it. The UK law sounds like it will create the same issue (not that I am arguing that consensual BDSM = CSAM. Far from it. I just fear the consequences could be transferrable to this law and outlawing possession of bits and bytes is always a problem).

I btw couldn't find face sitting on the list of outlawed kinks, so those who are into that are safe for now.

The way I see it: After the cold war, before the war on terrorism, Trump, Russia's 21st century wars, although after eternal September the internet didn't have wide adoption yet (at least not in Europe), Trump, Brexit, Covid, DMCA, Trump, enshittification wasn't part of every product released yet. Oh, and Trump.

And I wasn't old enough to have a care in the world in '97 but unlikely rbos had that as a reason.

Steam Frame is a mini PC that runs SteamOS which is based on Arch (btw). You can run some light games directly on the headset itself.

If you mean streaming from a Linux PC to the headset then I have almost no issues with it. There's a few stuttering issues likely caused by my poor WiFi since placing the dongle within arm's reach will make everything butter smooth. I run Fedora so kernel is almost bleeding edge. That might have something to so with it.

Before I spend tons of time trying to debug some intermittent connectivity issues I wanted to ask if some of you were also on the beta channel and experienced issues with streaming since yesterday. I think my issues started around when the update for the Frame arrived, but I was also trying out a seated game outside my normal play area so I don't have a perfect apples to apples comparison. For me its about 80% smooth sailing but sometimes I get a 5-20 second dropout in visuals, not the usual second or two I get when I turn my head too fast (that is probably caused by my subpar WiFi which we currently don't have a setting to disable for streaming). These dropouts don't return me to the passthrough as would be expected, they last for much longer, and happens out of the blue, even if I don't turn my head risking destabilising the 6GHz connection.

Ja for satan!

    • 50 ml whiskey (find du bare trygt din canadiske favorit frem)
    • 30 ml citronsaft (cirka en halv citron)
    • 20ml sukkersirup
