No, but I have the time to listen to you whine about nothing and everything all at once, granted, of course, that you're one of those melodramatic fools, neurotic to the bone. No doubt about it.

Yeah, I mean, sometimes I give myself the creeps. So this podcast may do something different. Or my mind may creep up on me.

But the internal creepification just keeps adding up. I think I'm cracking up.

Ok wow, the Daniel Day Lewis Gangs of New York poster is a whole new level of cringe whoosh, in the same vein as the punisher worship.

Among serious gun nuts, the Punisher thing is scoffed at. It's a sign the person displaying that bullshit is borderline childish.

Indeed. There's a big fucking difference between "firearms as an interest/hobby" and "firearms as an identity."

As someone who claims the former, but not the latter, people of the latter usually piss me off.

If someone brought a friend to our camp to shoot and they came with Punisher shit on their guns or gear, or god-for-fucking bid, Spartan shit, I wouldn't take my eyes off them for a second. Something about it screams, "My gun is an accessory, not a weapon."

    lol yes

That and the idiots that slap those gun decals with something like ‘we believe in the 2A’ or some dumb shit on their trucks. Which is basically just slapping a ‘free guns—break glass’ sticker on their vehicle.

I understand what you mean about lionizing anti-heroes. I just think that analysis is more sophisticated than the thing it’s analyzing. These displays are veiled threats of violence. Nothing more. Pretty funny too, seeing a tough guy try to scare you by flashing the symbol of his favorite comic book character.

100% it's only his favorite comic character but has never touched a comic, and maybe only watched clips from the shows. His only exposure is seeing gross misinterpretations by dickless right-wing chuds

It just goes to show what depths of psychological damage and depravity are caused by having the whole world revolve around you. I feel sorry for the MAGAts in a way because there really is no coming back from that. The problem they represent will not be solved, it will be only be outlived once all these spoiled pieces of shit die off. And it goes without saying that the world is never going to revert to revolving around them.

I have a wbite dude with a big beard and love guns, but am also super duper liberal. It's a weird place to be.

But they also assume I'm one of them and get to hear their unfiltered takes. They're more racist than you think.

A lot of the guys I see on YouTube that look like this are actually sensible. Then I got a look at the background.

"ChatGPT, make a pic of a stereotypical young white conservative male with all the trappings in the background."

This really misses the point of falling living standards.

It’s defeatist and basically implies that we should just be okay with bad living standards cause that was a temporary privilege.

I kinda think that's why the white males are so upset. It is getting harder for everyone. They've just never had to work as hard.

You know white male socialists exist too, right? Please don't lump us all in with these fools just because we share a few external characteristics that we didn't choose.

Unless you really hate working class solidarity, because making this about demographic categories rather than sociopolitical persuasion is actually doing a lot of legwork for the oligarchs.

They're upset because they know daddy and pawpaw had it way better so they cast about to lay blame. In a larger sense, that also explains the immigrant hate. It's not so much straight racism as a huge demographic swing combined with worsening, well..., everything.

    #NotAllMen

Also, equality feels like oppression to the privileged.

Idiots think the enemy are people in the same or lower social class.

People who are paying attention realize how little we actually gave up to get to the point of racial and gender equity we have today (and granted we have a lot further to go on those...but Italians and Irish are white now and some Latino's are even getting a pass...)...we have to give up even less for the real inequality -- wealth.

Hahaha like it's only been 500 years.

We have been writing our own rules and forcing them on others since the Holy Roman Empire. Then the Anglo's copied the Roman's notes and a different group of white men started forcing their rules on everyone, and some of them came to America to force them on the indigenous. (Key among them, one particular paesano we just "celebrated" a couple weeks ago...)

And white men are nowhere near equal level with anybody else. We've still got a huge advantage over every other racial and gender-identity group out there, at least in America. Racism is still alive and well, and getting a breath of fresh air and support from the feds. Women have lost autonomy over their body and their health decisions in many states, and voter ID laws in the works disproportionately effect married women.

In the name of unity we should not generalise this much.

People doing the bidding of the ruling class can still be victims and it is simply not true that any working class in all of history had it easy, more privileges sure! but "easy" not so much.

We have a class problem more than any other problem and i simply do not see how telling any specific demographic outside the 1% that their life is super easy helps to change that.

I think the guy in the photo misses the point of falling living standards, assuming the caption is an accurate description of his main point. A bit stereotypical and caricaturized, maybe, but there certainly are real life people who think and act like that.

Like, they feel the pinch, and that part is real. But then they believe the BS that they're spoonfed about "this is because of those socialists trying to uplift the poor and grant rights to everyone," instead of waking up and realizing "this is because of the oligarchs dismantling welfare and social safety nets, siphoning the means of life and livelihood to the top where they jealously hoard the wealth of the nations produced by the blood, sweat, and tears of the working class from whom the surplus value of that production gets appropriated."

And guess who's telling them the lie about it being the fault of the marginalized, oppressed, and powerless? That's right, the greedy oligarchs making away with record profits while enshittifying everything we depend on, and using millions of dollars to bribe politicians into serving corporate interests instead of the interests of their constituents. Spending more money each year on union-busting than they would on paying fair wages and benefits. Spending more on political donations than they would on taxes.

I'm not saying that the people who believe those lies and act on them (or vote according to them) are in any way excusable, so don't read me wrong there.

I'm simply saying that "Yes, the point is being missed. But it's arguably okay for OP to lampoon the people missing the point the hardest."

As long as it doesn't fall into the "blaming every white male" territory, which is a toxic and counterproductive overgeneralization. Which, yes, some people in the comments have already veered towards. Which, yikes, you know. But I don't think OP is necessarily to blame for that...
