The man who holds the record for longest single-speaker fillibuster in history. He bravely spoke for over 24 hours straight to prevent the Civil Rights Act of 1957. Then he stayed in the Senate for another 46 years - though he changed parties from Democratic to Republican because 1960s Democrats weren't racist enough.
Too bad the Ancients didn't know about right-click "Reopen burned library"
He's the diversity hire of the bunch.
He also selectively purged voter roles right before the election to give himself an advantage in the same election.
I have an expensive phone. It's a Fold 6 - I got it after using a Fold 3 for 4 years, and replacing it when the outer screen of all things stopped working, and the trade-kn on my old phone was still worth like $1,200 towards the new one even with a broken screen.
I used to get a new-model mid-range phone every year or 2. Now when I buy I go for the previous year's flagship and use it for a longer period. Financially it's probably a wash, though I know I could absolutely be spending less and be just fine.
But it's the piece of personal tech I interact with the most and for that I'm able to afford it, so I'm willing to spend the money.
There's gonna be a twist. And I expect the next season to have a shocking opener.
Texas has never been that red. The GOP first took over the state legislature in 2003 riding Bush's 9/11 bump.
And the first thing they did was a mid-decade gerrymander, and the Dems tried fleeing the state to prevent quorum. Sound familiar?
And it was way worse than what they did last year. Between the 2002 and 2004 elections, Texas's US House delegation went from majority Democrat to 2/3 Republican with about the same number of voters for either party.
Then they started rolling out voter suppression schemes and catering to out-of-state Republicans. They imported a conservative base.
He was a bad candidate, and the DSA is being smart about putting forward quality candidates.
A weak DSA Dem won't achieve anything but making the DSA wing of party look bad. They'll give the old guard something to point at as an example of why DSA is bad for the party and make things even harder.
Is the immigrant working in the fields with no healthcare and fleeing ICE living a happy, healthy life? Is the slave worker in Myanmar making the trowel you use in your home garden living a happy, healthy life?
It's impossible to exist without benefiting from suffering somewhere. At a certain point, you just have to try and do what you can to make it better. In my case, that involves supporting legislation to make the world better, because that will have more impact than a fringe group of people deciding not to wear wool socks.
They think this election represents support for the Dems, but most people (including reliable Dem voters) still have an unfavorable view of the party. This election was about rejecting Trump, and he won't be dragging down the Republicans in 2028.
We need to hit the primaries HARD.
We have to take out the people at the top for the illegal orders, but I do actually think it's just as important to take out the people at the bottom who followed them.
Make following illegal orders a liability and we'll have another layer of protection from this bullshit.
We slowed the progression of the ratchet on Tuesday.
We reverse it in the primaries.
