makes ya think
Nah, he plausibly can breath so it's okay, if I understand the stupid bill's logic.
"What if the half-pints (who shouldn't be on those soites without a porno loicense anyway!) learn the wrong way to have a mad hatter!"
I appreciate the Ramiel representation.
And notably, Trump did to ICE what was done to Eichmann: create insane goals for deportation which by their nature required inhumanity, and then just let the machine crank as everyone in ICE fought to meet those unreasonable goals so they could argue for promotions etc.
That said, two weekends ago I was knocking doors trying to get a town to act against its police using its city council, where the police had made a deal with ICE to do immigration enforcement; months before that I was chatting with my local city rep about removing our city police's ability to talk to ICE, which we won. So shit is moving, and you can get in the way, but you need to look around your area for groups to join, and it's gonna require awkward, weird behaviors we forgot when we sank into our TV as a society and forgot about community action.
Heck, it was already beaten to the punch by VR Chat and arguably 2nd Life eons before. He clearly just needed some 'big new concept' to pitch to investors about how they could 10x in two years after FB users flatlined
My local DSA is quite up-front about being a "big tent", I'd be surprised if others weren't also.
It started convincingly in the 60s (tracking on Bowling Alone, a book written in 1999 about the decline of the American community), but isn't clear-cut on likely reasoning at the about halfway point I'm at, other than older more socially-involved generations dying out.
My take expanding what I've learned so far is that appears to be a combination of:
- there are things that are 'entertaining enough' at home to discourage former events like going over a friend's or coworker's, so general schmoozing is relegated at best to video games online with rare exceptions. The 60s is when television really "took over" the family room, but there was radio and books before it.
- the generation that grouped together to fight the oil barons died out, and did not transmit their union dinners and other community behaviors to their children.
- churches saw significant decline during the social movements of the 60s that has continued since.
So we may be too comfortable at home with new technology to go out, even if we're not fulfilling all of our social needs (that is, the "epidemic of loneliness" so often brought up). And when nearly all the interactions you have left is "vote with your dollars," whom you choose to pay becomes the political and social choice that defines who you are.*
* though the fact that a few people own most of the dollars means your vote basically means squat anyway, but that's getting on to class war, for which social isolation is a fantastic benefit for the ownership class against labor negotiation
Async/await turns the concepts from the [CSP] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communicating_sequential_processes) that are useful into an overcomplicated mess in every language that implements it, and golang is a prime example of how clear and intuitive an implementation aligned with CSP can be without requiring arcane typing and language infrastructure that comes with async/await approaches.
Y'know I do always think back to how instantly, despite no attraction to men, I wanted an option to shack Link up with the dad in Breath of the Wild who was doing such a good job of taking care of his kids after his wife died
