Nope. The opposite. Everyone in the world is incompetent and if I want to have something done right I need to do it myself, therefore requiring very little from my environment: low maintenance.

No I'm low maintenance because the maintenance costs more than the value.

As a fellow burden to the world: that's the fawning reaction at work

Kind of wish we could live for free without leaving a trace. No one's resources consumed, no one bothered.

    I shouldn't even be around.

I don't know which is worse: that there is no sense of self anymore, or that I have to put on masks to pretend there is.

Some of us don't need insults to feel guilty for existing you know? I didn't have a job for the longest time, so I took nearly nothing.

Low maintenance. I dislike most people, I dislike going out, I dislike buying stuff I can do myself. All I want is to be by myself and read in peace. I do like kids and talking tho, so just going to uni or watching over young family members is enough for me.

Or are you high maintenance and in such profound denial that you're adamant you're truly low maintenance?

I'm high maintenance. Like an old car. You'll have to work to get my ass up to do anything. I won't ask you for anything though. Sitting here is just fine.

Nope, just can't be bothered to care any more.

It does make weeding people out of your life easier though.

When you ask for very little from your friend circle or your relationships it's a lot easier to see if people make an effort or not.

Nah, it's worse. I'm your maintenance and barely self-sufficient at all. No wonders.

I resonate with this, but on the other hand I feel like we live in such a self-centered time. If my cup is overflowing, why not dismiss trivial wants to pour into the cups of others? It provides far more enduring satisfaction from my experience.

I don't understand lots of this sort of therapy-speak. Is the suggestion that everyone just loudly insists upon their every whim? Obviously there are extremes of this that cause people to silence and repress serious discomfort that ends up either coming out explosively or slowly eroding one's sense of self-worth, but to some degree this is just living in a society, sweetheart.

    No.

Obviously there are extremes of this that cause people to silence and repress serious discomfort that ends up either coming out explosively or slowly eroding one’s sense of self-worth, but

No buts. That's just it right there.

this is just living in a society, sweetheart.

Maybe we should improve society somewhat. Also being a condescending dick about other people's difficulties in life isn't cool or helpful or good at all.

Best to second guess anything that is inviting you to indulge in self-pity I think.

That's the idea. The "therapy-speak" here is just the term "internalized" which means the shit other people put on you is now being echoed from within your own mind. Don't listen to them! Go do the thing anyway! Courage isn't the absence of fear, it's going forward in the face of it.
