Do people actually have consistent favourite colours? I've never really understood the question because for me it really depends on how the colour is being used and in what circumstance

I fucking hate that Omarchy is mentioned. "Yeah, we're specifically supporting that one Nazi's dotfiles"-ass comment.

Its also weird to mention CachyOS instead of just saying Arch and kind of just gives "I just Googled popular distros" vibes

I generally do lean towards people being granted anonymity until being declared guilty because the court of public opinion is pretty ruthless. I wonder if saying "yes you can get the publication ban, but you must then spend your time waiting for the trial in jail then" would work. It'd mean you could have your privacy but there wouldn't be any potential victims

I miss the headphone jacks too but I feel like people you guys are idolising it as if it was a god-tier jack when it is/was just okay. 3.5mm jacks would break on me all the time. I've literally had the 3.5mm plug break off inside the port before

The union representing correctional officers is raising the alarm after it says an inmate had a drone drop off a McDonald's meal and alcohol to what's supposed to be Canada's most secure prison earlier this week.

The union said the drone delivered McDonald's chicken nuggets and fries complete with sauce and some alcohol straight to the inmate's cell window in the special handling unit at the Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Que., facility at around 3 a.m. on Thursday.

"The inmate found that really funny in the morning when the guards did their rounds," said Mike Bolduc, regional president of the UCCO-SACC-CSN union, in an interview.

Manitoba will ban youth from using social media and AI chatbots, Premier Wab Kinew announced on Saturday.

The proposed law protecting youth from the harmful effects of social media will be the first of its kind in Canada.

The premier said the platforms are intentionally designed to get people "addicted to the infinite scroll," contributing to mental health issues like anxiety and depression.

"They're doing these very awful things to kids all in the name of a few likes, all in the name of more engagement, and all in the name of money," Kinew said at an NDP fundraising gala in Winnipeg on Saturday night.

"More money for a group of rich tech bros who already have a ton."

Social media use among youth has been linked to health issues ranging from reduced sleep and attention to long-term mental health issues, but academics say more study is needed to establish causes.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday he's terminating all trade discussions with Canada effective immediately.

"We will let Canada know the Tariff that they will be paying to do business with the United States of America within the next seven day period," Trump said in a social media post.

He says he's pulling back from the bilateral trade discussions because Canada plans to move ahead with its digital services tax (DST), which requires web giants pay a special tax.

Set to take effect on June 30, the DST requires U.S. companies like Amazon, Google, Meta, Uber and Airbnb pay a three per cent levy on revenue from Canadian users — a policy enacted by former prime minister Justin Trudeau's government that the Parliamentary Budget Office projects will bring in billions of dollars in revenue.

I remember reading an article, I think on a substack site, about how the author expected (I think) the rise of facism in the US but not being lead by such pathetic losers?/nerds?/geeks?. I can't seem to find the article but it was funny and relatable and I really want to find the link again.

It might have also been an article on The Verge, 404media or maybe Vice too
