Dude a few people in front of me at the polling place today had a handgun on his hip. He also had handcuffs, but i saw no badge anywhere. There was a sign behind the poll workers that said no weapons allowed. It was also at a school. Nobody said anything but i said "Huh, i didn't think guns were allowed here, like at all." He turned to look at me but that was the end of it. Zero consequences for him and he got to vote. Douche

    I found 8 tangerines in small individual ziploc bags on the sidewalk, the other day. Theres no real point to this but its one of those things that stuck with me. Why were they bagged? Why 8? I could see 5 or even 7, but 8? Why were they there? it wasn't a public area so not like food left for the hungry. Sorry, this post just reminded me. Maybe tangerine person is related to OOP?

    So, Lemmy has become my main squeeze, like reddit used to be. Ive been here for a few years now, and the only thing i really miss from the bad place, is RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite). Mainly, the expando of media like pictures, gifs, and embedded videos. I think that's what RES called it? The little icon you could click to get a full, inline view of the media.

    Right now, if I want to view an image, I right click > view image in a new tab. Or, I could click the image and have it load that image in my current tab, view it, and click back on my browser.

    Is there anything like RES for Lemmy? Am I being dumb and there is a built in feature im missing? I know there are a couple Git repos out there, but they are 2-3 years old with no updates. I know Lemmy is open source so the need for RES isn't as high but I feel like how media is handled could be better. I'm not a programmer though...

    Honest to gods, this conversation happened today, and it may have cost me a job opportunity. The customer was super impressed with my menu design and animation, and wanted to know who we got it from. When I said I did it, their face lit up! Too bad as soon as i said GIMP, they weren't interested anymore. Has anyone else experienced this? What do you say in similar situations?

    Picture of post from my Bluesky of a convo between me and a customer... {Convo between me and a customer today: "neat menu, i really like it."  "thanks, I made it." -me "Really? How?" "I used Gim... and an online program, Canva to animate it." "Im sorry, Gim?" "Umm, GIMP. It stand for GNU Image Manip..." "GIMP?? Like the suit?" "No, not like the suit."  why, gimp dev!? }

    Hey! I hate to have my first post here just asking for help, but Im a worried snail papa. My tank has been going for about 2 months now. Its 5 gallon fresh blackwater setup with 8 neocaridina shrimp and 1 mystery snail (as well as a half dozen bladder snail hitchhikers). Herbert the snail had some growth on him today when i got home. This morning it wasn't there but i did just add some alder cones (presoaked) for tannins yesterday. Im thinking its just a microfauna bloom or bacterial growth from that, but I want to be sure. Im still new to having a tank so its all searches and guess work. I went in with some tweezers and gently brushed most of it off of him, it came off in strings of brown clumps. He seems to be acting normal now, just grazing and cruising around the tank so i dont think he's destressed. Anyways thanks for taking the time to read this mess. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Close up image of the side of Herbert the mystery snail. He has brown grain like clumps attached to his side. Second photo is zoomed out of first at slightly different angel. Third is a full tank setup showing a riparium 5 gallon nano tank with tannin rich water, serval pieces of drift wood, amethyst clusters and tons of live plants.
    Just switched. (sopuli.xyz)

    No real point to this other than to say I really Like this distro. I had had it with Windows, and in a fit of inspired rage, did a clean install of Pop. Besides a few hiccups (extensions loading properly and picking the wrong Nvidia drivers) its been smooth sailing.
