Someone is fishing for an Ig Nobel.
Good points. But I would argue that pizza more than almost any dish (maybe rivaled by hamburgers?) has far transcended its roots and become a true global phenomenon.
"Hawaiian" pizza, generally considered the origin of pineapple as a topping, started in Canada in 1962*. That's almost 65 years ago and 20 years older than your example of Ciabatta.
[*] Or possibly Portland, OR in 1957.
Is it just me or does this make no goddamn sense?
I played the demo for Over the Hill and enjoyed it. As others said it's pretty calm and slow-paced. It's not really about firm objectives, but rather you decide where to go and what route to take. Some people don't like the physics but I thought they were okay. You'll probably want to upgrade tires and suspension right away since the game is all about traction on rough terrain.
Anyway, try the demo if it's still available, since it's free.
Hm, I prefer women on top.
The tech discussion is about these companies encrypting past mail I believe, so in that sense yes it is. But these comments don't give me any confidence that Proton is going to do it correctly or robustly.
This definitely sounds better than the headline indicated:
Just to clarify, Proton is not doing layoffs and using AI as an excuse. We actually have a big shortage of talent and are actively hiring across the org: https://proton.me/careers#jobslist [...] we’re in the process of figuring out who among our existing colleagues are the best future leaders, assessing whether everyone has the skills they need to take a step forward in a post-AI world, and making sure we are offering the support that is necessary, to those who need it, to succeed.
However the actual letter to employees seems to undermine it (emphasis added):
That review may lead to changes in roles, responsibilities, and continued employment. Individual outcomes will be communicated directly once decisions are finalized.
Hey managers, don't do this shit. If they had just stopped at "may lead to changes in roles and responsibilities" this would probably be fine, people understand that team structures sometimes need to change or modernize. But don't lie to your employees and tell them it's not about layoffs when that is in fact a possible outcome. If you need to do some layoffs, it should be entirely separate and part of the normal performance eval process, not done via some BS re-interview under a team who probably doesn't even understand the work.
Have they improved their Linux support? It's the first one I tried years ago and I had to go make individual openvpn configs for each server which was such a pain (unless I wanted to just use the same few all the time).
There was probably a better way to do it but that was just solved for me when I switched to another provider.
Nice try, Sarif Industries. I've played some Deus Ex, I know how this goes.
Was it the pear dream again?
Not bad for a nightshade, eh?
Disappointed if her username hasn't changed to Flour.
