The Ontario government is considering new laws that would give police greater powers to break up protests, issue fines, demand identification, and potentially arrest people who refuse to identify themselves.

If you are against this, AND YOU SHOULD BE, you have 2 days left to comment.

Pretty sure that would be against our rights and would need to go all the way to our supreme Court.

Not if they withstand the clause.

If the government denies law when inconvenient, then we're all free from it. The same law that protects you from them, protects them from you. Take away the social contract and its gone.

Without protest for greivances, the only option for the agreived is escalation. If governments think manhandling protestors is hard work, its nothing compared to civil disobedience. Civil disobedience escalates into mobs and it goes on from there.

Protest is a form of pressure release, and a means to obtain redress of greivances.

While I agree with you, Canada's history isn't exactly full of times that modern Canadians rebelled against injustice by their government (except for the indigenous people) and extracted wins.

It was more often than not a peaceful protest, the government cracked down hard, and that's about it.

Telling someone or something to fuck off is the last bit of freedom we have as "economical consumers".

People need to fight against this gov. At the same time, commenting on these registry postings does fuck all. The comments against the bike lane removal bill were massive and persuasive. The Ford gov still gets away claiming people want this

Don't worry, there's this awesome loophole that allows him to do whatever the fuck he wants called the notwithstanding clause.

So, how many people are we, and how many cops are there?

If shit happens, remember, we are many.
    They sleep, too.

Let's make uneducated corrupt fat fucks illegal.

Where's the Epstein files RCMP investigation?

I will protest the fuck out of any laws that denies me my democratic right to protest the government

If protesting is illegal, then a lethal response to police violence might as well be on the table. Why go to jail for anything less than mass murder of asshole police officers? It might distract from the original point of the protest, though.

Let’s just make fascist ford illegal. Most likely be easier.

If this goes through, here is an idea for a demonstration. Everyone put on masks and line up in front of the police station with hands ziptied. The local police then have to book everyone but the line just keeps growing.

If protesting is illegal then there's really no reason for protesting to be peaceful, or follow any other convention to be honest. You know, just saying.

You guys need to stop this shit before it's too late. You're better than us, you can do it.

You'd be shocked how bigoted and backwards parts of Ontario are.

They'll cry about trucker convoy not being allowed to "protest" and demand a ban on peaceful anti-genocide protests in the same breath.

Mosy Conservatives in Canada are far from being intelligent. They're as angry about "sharia law and bike lanes" in Toronto and the muslim mayor of London, UK as MAGA die-hards.
