It isn't complete. They don't have a super majority in the senate, so any impeachments just won't get carried out. It's also unclear how with all major federal agencies compromised by cronies it would be carried out.

It's good news because it shows how incompetent Trump is at securing his own authoritarian bid, but it is not a victory for democrats. Supreme Court is still stuffed, and worse, all federal agencies have been compromised. I doubt it will simply be a lame duck presidency if federal agencies continue to follow presidential decrees while ignoring congress unless the Supreme Court tells them to. Impeachments can't go through, Trump can still create exceptions from having to follow the law with "pre-emptive pardons", he can still prolong signing bills until he eventually vetoes them, and any investigations preceding impeachments are going to be heavily MAGA partisan by the federal agencies in charge.

The more people hear of "Democrats winning", the more MAGA will spin bad things as "it's their fault, things are now much worse after they won, you can thank us because it's not even worse". That won't matter right now, but in several years, people have shit memories. Democrats haven't won yet, they've just made it harder for Trump after and if they get sworn in next year.

Sort of feel the same, and it's just so out of reach to own your own private jet. The most thematic aspect of this crash was how fast it happened and how it was able to be recorded from multiple angles. The rest, well, it's just like seeing a video of a car crash, am I supposed to care more because they are rich? Their death was at least better than most people who die in accidents get, it was at least instantaneous - there are worse ways to die.

News is literally combing over every aspect of their life - what the last conversation with traffic control was, what SMS were sent just before they crashed from who to whom, who the entire entourage is ... I don't care anymore than any other random accident, and I don't see why I should, yet it's hard to avoid the feed. I see people empathizing with the deceased who would just dismiss or mock some other's without the glitz death they could dismiss as a caricature if some other context was slapped onto it.

May the dead be able to be mourned by their loved ones in peace, away from those who would turn it into a spectacle.

Something like this was inevitable when people accepted being so complicit in crowdsourcing financing heavily biased towards the black market. Presumably the “never-seen-before” laundering patterns were actually the well known crypto money laundering efforts that exist that just trade and launder the pilfered crypto via high speed high frequency trading for "legit" blocks.

This is basically alt-fiction. Lucifer rebelled because he wanted to rule as a god our of pride and personal ambition. The enemy of your enemy is not your friend, but because a lot of people have a problem with the Bible's fiction and how its cult acts it out, they like to indulge in this alt-fiction that Satan was essentially just another Prometheus. Why not just disengage from the entire fictional premise completely rather than pick one which deliberately antagonizes and plays into your critics?

So, he basically signs a bunch of new laws protecting private data, but because he did not sign one particular proposition, evil incarnate? People realize that this "vetoed" law is not one that existed, but a proposition for a law ... right? You should still have control of how your data is shared.

It's not ideal, but seriously, man it's so easy to make people on Lemmy shoot themselves on the foot. People here will jump at anything to demonize if you even think of voting against Trump here even though he clearly is literally open corruption and the complete corrosion of the rule of law. Anything that diverts from the complete ideal is an excuse for the most corrupt administration to continue in power.

I was actually thinking more like participants who can offer computational power during periods of no use, accrue reputation the more they contribute, and can use that reputation to offload computation to the cloud. If your PC was not powerful enough to run local LLMs, it would need to contribute a lot more, or perhaps it would just be limited to clouds of people running powerful enough GPUs for the local LLMs being used so they could get an added benefit to leaving it running at night.

An LLM model running over across multiple PCs across the Internet would not really be workable, no, but their product is.

I'm still waiting, reddit, why are you still accessible publicly? Second thoughts, spez? Seems this is taking longer than other announcements, like when they locked old.reddit behind a login. I saw the login prompt pop up on desktop once, and never again after that.

Reddit has repeatedly proved that they do not care about their users, regardless of what they say. No one who has left is eager to get back, they are only trying to catch new users which other social networks are much more effective at.

It also allows us to protect access to Reddit’s extremely valuable corpus of data

That's the real problem, people have to stop giving Reddit their data to monetize before they inevitable kick them to the curve and remove any control they had over their own data.

Welcome back to life as a peasant.

Which is sort of what their glimpses of post-AI jobs in the future they could actually substantiate suggest. It's all a big heist from the wealth of the people into the pockets of the wealthiest using the smoke and mirrors of a "democratic" government, fueled by the possibility of them no longer having to placate human societies in any way if AI and robotics becomes advanced enough.

Amazon plans to use automation to replace more than 600,000 workers who would otherwise be hired in the United States by 2033, according to internal documents obtained by The New York Times. By that time, the company is expected to sell about twice as many goods as it does today.

Amazon’s robotics team is reportedly working toward the goal of automating 75% of its entire business. By 2027, it is expected to eliminate around 160,000 jobs in the US, saving the company an estimated $12.6 billion — equivalent to around 30 cents per item delivered.
