"VP of AI software loves AI slop built dotfiles by a man that would in any other situation demand he leave his country"

A. VP means...jack all in the corporate world and B. I'd wait a little bit before slinging the pitchforks at AMD.

In reality this just proves a point I made last week on mastodon. Users are soon just going to have to make exceptions for what they are willing to use because of this AI crap. it's everywhere now, it's in everything, and pretty much everything we use is slop coded in some form or another. You're now just going to have to decide on what levels of AI bullshit you're willing to accept in your daily computing.

Or we just all start using TempleOS on machines from 20+ years ago.

Shatner was recently on Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiners podcast and he still looked the same as he did like 20 years ago and still sharp as a tack. I think what help keeps his mind sharp is he stays up to date on stuff. Like he was quite knowledgeable about AI for example. for being 95 he acts like he's in his late 60s.

because it is. it might be from the old early 00s web series "Space Battles"

Those were great. Guy just made a series of movies with Star Trek, Star Wars, and Babylon 5 ships fighting each other. Like for example there was a series where The Federation, the Rebel Alliance, and The Alliance/Rangers teamed up against The Empire and the Shadows. Or there was one series where the Federation went against The Alliance in B5 (which is what this might be from)

yeah mine ends the end of this week and I won't be renewing. I have my own domain with a couple email accounts attached and I'm thinking of switching to Purelymail. as far as VPN goes? leaning towards IVPN.

edit: nvm found out Purelymail is US based, went with mailbox.org instead. very easy setup process and everything is already configured.

ugh that's totally me. I've literally tried everything, even all the BSDs, and there are many that I like.

I don't know I just find it fun to install a linux distro or BSD and set it up, see what will work, what doesn't, etc.

The beauty of it is now I can install anything with ease and i'm familiar with pretty much every package manager out there. Favourite install: Gentoo. Least favourite: Slackware.

what I changed more were DEs and WMs. I could never find the right one that I absolutely loved for years. Finally I just ended up building my own and put in all the stuff I wanted.

it can be. if you're looking for something for browsing, watching video/listening to music, wee bit of coding/writing it works well. it has a few applications that the BSDs don't. I like the floorp web browser and none of the BSDs have that packaged, Haiku does.

it's VERY easy to install, VERY quick to install.

"this will be a wake up call for the NDP"

Dear reader if I had a nickle for every "NDP Wake up call" I could buy a months worth of double doubles from tims.

No, it won't be a wake up call. it's hard to wake a corpse. the worst thing that happened to that party was the death of Jack Layton and they've never been able to recover from it. There's zero leadership. and the best bet is Layton's partner, Olivia Chow, who herself is barely scraping by in the polls for her Mayoral re-election in Toronto.

Don't get me wrong I want the NDP to do well, I want them to win, I just wish they could sort their shit out and have a strong intelligent leader.

I love how their fans are all pro-genocide, pro-racism, pro-bigotry but cheating? nah cheating is where they draw the line.

good riddance. h3h3 was absolutely horrible. and I really hope all the people he's sued or sent his fans on are having a fantastic friday.

eh I'm happy to just let it go. Bioware hadn't made a good game since 2014. every release after Inquisition was awful. Sure we can look at a pre-rendered video and think "oh man, sucks I won't be able to play it" but lets be real here...the chances of it even being good with their recent track record? i'm doubtful.

A week ago I decided to give Fedora another try. I installed Fedora KDE and it caused me problems. I naturally thought it was a Fedora thing but ends up it was a KDE thing. So I installed my DWM repo and the problems I was having with Fedora went away. I don't want to use KDE anymore and would rather just keep using Fedora with DWM or a wayland WM.

My question is do I just keep using Fedora KDE or do I have to switch to another Fedora "spin"? I don't want to use KDE anymore, I'd love to just remove it all completely, switch login managers, and free up some space but apparently doing so would break my Fedora install from what I read online and that alone is making me question my decision to switch to Fedora. I feel like I'm "locked in" to a version of it I'm not really going to use. i.e. when it updates, it's going to update KDE with crap I won't use.

Can I remove KDE? switch login managers? is there an easier way to switch my Fedora version instead of having to reinstall the distro?

I've been having issues with Window Managers lately either mouse or keyboard issues when gaming and my annoyance after using them for a solid couple years when it comes to configuring them. So I asked "can't I just make Plasma look like one?" answer is yes.

It tiles the same way DWL or another WM does, made the status bar to also look the same. I prefer Konsole now over other terminal emulators so I just left it as is. My Plasma is now essentially a tiling WM without the headaches of a tiling WM and everything now just works.

I've been using Qobuz for about a month now and have been adding tracks to a single playlist. I then discovered that qobuz has a 2000 track limit for playlists. I don't like that. I like having all my music in one place so I can shuffle it all and not think about it.

However for favourites there doesn't appear to be a limit. So what was the solution? Favourite all my tracks in my playlist. But I had 1998 tracks and instead of clicking on each track one by one I made a script to do it for me.

    https://codeberg.org/rozodru/qbzfavs

it's pretty simple and fetches all your tracks and then bulk favourites them in batches of 50.

DISCLAIMER: This script uses Qobuz's private/unofficial API, which is not publicly documented or supported. It may break at any time if Qobuz changes their API. Use at your own risk and in accordance with Qobuz's terms of service.
